Is 'Catastrophe' worth staying up for, or shall I just nip out to the offy for four more cans of Zywiec and pass out by 21:00?

I'm watching the first show of the first season and I think the answer is NO. I clearly like Sharon Horgan much more as a person than I do as an actress or writer. I liked 'Pulling' to begin with, but it got jarring very quickly indeed

    She's no JULIA DAVIS

There are enough shots of Rob Delany's ass and chest to keep me watching. Also Carrie Fisher has a nice cameo.

I felt the same about Catastrophe initially. It's all a little off kilter at first, but grew to be probably my favourite comedy of the year.

Only seen the first episode of the second series so far, but it didn't disappoint.

I ended up bingeing on the entirety of the first series and it's FABULOUS. Also, a lot of the outdoor shots are filmed mere skipping distance from where I live

Oh my days Catastrophe chat. I LOVE this. Has there ever been a better lead pair?

Ooo lovely, a separate thread. A simply KILLER lead pair indeed. I love SHAZ and want to get her round for dinner and a box of wine and brandy - actually, there's an Irish woman at work who's very much like her and makes me shriek with laughter without even saying anything - and Rob's very TASTY

I love TV shows about people who are a little bit awful and a little bit more awkward. From what I've seen, this is right up my alley.

Fantastic this week - Sharon was especially brilliant. Her "Fuck off" to Sam was :D

Rob Delaney cumming on his own belly ftw

I feel like it's the most realistic portrayal of a relationship I've seen for a while.

This is definitely a highlight of my viewing week. The time leap at the beginning of this series did throw me a bit and makes me wonder whether they have plans to do too many more.

There was a time jump after the first series to over a year later where they have another kid. It confused everyone.

The Paris episode was SIMPLY EVERYTHING. That shaking the jizz out final scene!

Was it just me or was the fourth episode a bit NON? Can't say that I'm really giving much of a fuck about the secondary characters

I know what you mean but I did enjoy her outrage at the proposed cheese non-making anniversary celebration.

It was the weak link. I don't really like the tranny fucker, but the scene was delightfully awkward.

I'm starting to hope that these two get run over at the end of episode 6. It's become an ever diminishing parade of a few decent one liners within terribly flimsy, boring and undeveloped constructs. I seem to recall that this is why I went off 'Pulling'

I had assumed series 3 was already in progress, either way... great.

I thought 3 had been confirmed way back as well. But still, knowing that there at least 12 episodes more is great. I can't think of many shows where I like the two leads (and a male/female combo at that) so much, despite (or more likely because) they are more than a bit awful. And I fancy Rob Delaney more than a little bit.

Considering the time gap between series one and two, I wonder what they will do this time? Both actors are easily old enough to be parents of teenagers, so I wonder if they might do time jumps between series again.

This is exactly why I love it. Amazing leads. Rob is, let's face it SUPER HOT and Sharon is hilarious. Bad relationships from start to end are reality. Love is rarely perfect, relationships are often messy, but salvageable, people are funny and this reflects it.

So, anyone watching the 3rd season of this?
I just watched the first 2 episodes and they are as hilarious as all the previous and it's so good to have it back. Can't wait for the rest of them.

I've JUST got into this. I kept meaning to search for a moopy thread.

Currently midway through S2 - I guess the charm of it all is in the relatability of it all as one half of a disfunctional couple that is consumed with equal amounts of love and hate.

And this. I watched S2E4 last night and wondered why all of a sudden the YANK was getting lines.

The trans scene had me howling and cringing in equal measures.

Just catching up with this now. The first episode of series 3 is going to be need to be watched again as I've missed so many lines.

Has Rob Delaney chubbed up a bit?

There definitely seems to be the hint of another chin.

Anyway the first two episodes have been on great form. The dissection of her encounter with the young man, the assembly... :D

Maybe that's why he's grown the beard now.

Although he's always been on of the stocky/chubby guys.

I have very sad news. My two and a half year year old son Henry has passed away. Henry had been diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2016, shortly after his first birthday, following persistent vomiting and weight loss. He had surgery to remove the tumor and further treatment through the early part of 2017. Then the cancer returned last autumn and he died in January.
My wife and Henry's older brothers and I are devastated of course. Henry was a joy. He was smart, funny, and mischievous and we had so many wonderful adventures together, particularly after he'd moved home following fifteen months living in hospitals. His tumor and surgery left him with significant physical disabilities, but he quickly learned sign language and developed his own method of getting from A to B shuffling on his beautiful little bum. His drive to live and to love and to connect was profound.
I am astonished by the love-in-action displayed by Henry's mom and his brothers. They are why I will endeavor to not go mad with grief. I don't want to miss out on their beautiful lives. I'm greedy for more experiences with them.
The NHS nurses and doctors and the home carers and charity workers who helped our family survive Henry's illness will be my heroes until the day I die. I am desperately sad right now, but I can say with authority that there is good in this world.

If you'd like to help other families in the UK with very sick children, please make a donation to Rainbow Trust (https://rainbowtrust.org.uk) or Noah's Ark (https://www.noahsarkhospice.org.uk) in Henry's name or in the name of someone you love. Our family would be in much worse shape right now if it weren't for them. I would also urge you to take concrete and sustained action to support the NHS, however you can. Do not take it for granted.

Finally, I ask that you respect my family's privacy regarding this matter. I have nothing else to say that I haven't said here.

Thank you, beautiful Henry, for spending as much time with us as you did. We miss you so much.
