I still love that trippy video. Low budget as fuck but it really works.

one of (if not THE) best ballads she has released, seriously. It frustrates me how badly it did chart-wise but at least she acknowledges it now and then. I love the production and the lyrics (We've ALL BEEN THERE at some point loves).

That Adele sells when we have this masterpiece embarrassing anyone who has ever taken a breath in front of a mic is just ridiculous. It's all perfection and the comedy dance remix is a duck for cover disco juggernaut. The tragedy of her best ever work not selling merely adding to the asphyxiating pathos of it all.

"i feel like the world's been infected" clearly a lyric too high brow for x-factor contestants):

This is a real STUNNER and is only rivalled by self-help fest "The Voice Within" in the Aguilera ballad stakes for me.

Her best song, so unfortunate it never really had a chance. Maybe if she re-released it with an Adele vocal or something :(

It's very good, but I'd say it's a little forgettable. I'm surprised she's never churned out an album of misery-ballads to cash in on her having THE voice of a generation and the popularity of fellow foghorn Adele.

    7. The Voice Within
    8. Blank Page
    9. Reflection

I totally forgot about We Remain. My favorite Christina Aguilera ballad EVER. I can't stand Hurt or Beautiful these days, I hope she goes back to either Sia or Ryan Tedder for ballads from now on.

Oh Am, Walk Away is gorge, I also love a bit of Impossible. They'd both be in my top 5 if we're including album tracks.

    We Remain:

Drawing you a frown right now.

Thank god Xtina snatched it out from Leona's hooves, Sia's ballads were the making of her.

I love "Blank Page", but she sounds STRAINED on it, and tired.

PHENOMENAL but not quite up there with "Hurt", which remains her CROWNING GLORY for me, in the ballad stakes at least. The hurt in her voice is absolutely palpable, particularly on the way she spits out the aforementioned "infected" line.

But let's face it, nothing comes close to "Not Myself Tonight" overall, loves :disco:

Which I think is really delivers it.

Her final croak of "you lost me" is hearbreaking.

Lift Me Up (Dead Haitian Kids Mix) is still my favourite, although this is a close second from Bi~On~Ic.

Her recent ballads have kept some of the sheen, Bound to You deserved better than soundtracking Xtina's doomed love affair with a topless waiter that lives in a shack.

"Hurt" is genuinely one of the few modern songs that can reduce me to tears and I'm not ashamed to admit it...

I could like Hurt a lot except for the fact it was the beginning of the end for her, it ruined the whole Back To Basics campaign, Candyman didn't help one bit and I think it was her legit Top 20 single as a solo artist :(

A quick wiki search says Keeps Gettin Better was indeed a Top 10 hit but what gives? IT's awful.

Candyman was a pretty big hit! It should've been the first single. Ain't No Other Man was an awful choice.

As if she was coming back and not letting out that relaxing bellow to herald it was time for her arrival again. I guess they could have pasted it in though.

The VMAs performance was outstanding, but that song is so bad it makes me want to side with her nasty papi.

Blimey. That video (which I'd never seen before) is SENSATIONAL :disco:

I know she's supposed to be a HORROR but I really do like me a bit of AGUILERA

"Candyman" was a massive hit in the UK, despite the chart position- it was never released physically and was the all time biggest selling download for a short period. It hung around for AGES.

It did similar work in the US, if I remember rightly.

the intro to Ain't No Other Man is I*C*O*N*I*C

I hadn't realised that Candyman was a huge hit then :o I don't mind it and it doesn't get enough love but the true hidden gems (that should have been singles IMHO) are Slow Down Baby, Back In The Day and Here To Stay (PEPSI Remix please)

"Candyman" was most definitely NOT a "huge hit" in America contrary to what Jark might allege

I do seem to recall it doing quite well in the UK in a budding digital era though

How did it ruin the campaign? I recall it being the biggest single here, at least judging by the airplay it got.

I never alleged such a thing! I said it was pretty big and I was talking about the UK.

But it would've done better as lead single so MOOT POINT, I feel
