    GOOD MOONING

I'm leaving work in a few minutes to check out an apartment round the corner from us. We have to move :( as our bitch of a landlord sold the place without telling us. Bah! I hope this place is as gorgeous as our current one.

I've also done something VERY sensible and elected to pay an extra $200 a month into my pension :o

(mainly because I keep stealing from it to fund holidays and suchlike)

    MORNING

We have some great weather down here but I can't think of anything else interesting to say yet. :(

I have a RECRUITMENT DAY today. It's like... half group activities and half short interviews. Thankfully, i've found an outfit that straddles that smart-casual barrier like a boss... because I honestly had no IDEA what to wear to this thing. It's far easier to determine if it's a straight-up job interview.

Good luck! The outfit is half the battle.

I hate group activities - I work just FINE in a group but being judged on it makes it all so unnatural. And there's always some prick who thinks he knows it all who makes it hard for anyone else to get a say. I should never apply for The Apprenctice should I...

Oh, I'd be awful at something like that. I'd go in with my Big Brother face on and try to subtly undermine everyone else.

I know. When I said straight-up job interviews are easier to determine, I meant in general as well! Despite my limited experience of job interviews, at least they're vaguely FAMILIAR. I have no experience of judged group activities. I'm hoping people won't be TOO zealous as the Recruitment Day is just for Edinburgh Festival work as opposed to any kind of permanent position.

And if I wasn't nervous enough, my flatmate is now hoarding the bathroom even though she has NOWHERE TO BE.

I've only been on one interview where there was a group discussion exercise. And I totally ACED it. I'm usually AWFUL in job interviews.

The only thing that is making me feel better about this is the fact that even though I can be shy, i'm also one of those people in tutorials that will SPEAK UP quite a lot. I can BE that prick.

:D Go on! You have it in you! BE that prick!

Seriously though, as clichéd as the term is, you just have to 'be yourself'. It sounds like it will be a relatively relaxed affair so I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

I did proofread my friend's paper though, an exhilarating piece of work on the Sanskrit words kāma and priya. my advice to her: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WRITE IN ENGLISH EVER AGAIN

It wasn't :( It was nice enough but not lovely. I think we are really spoilt with our current place. It has amazing views over the city and harbour (Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Botanical Gardens... the works), the layout is brilliant (the bedrooms are separated from the living room by the kitchen, bathroom and a corridor) and we are paying rent at 2009 prices. Today an agent told me we are paying $400 a WEEK less than he'd expect.

Anyway, we'll see. In my favour, my housemate is a complete salesman so will get a great deal.

Hello all! We've had an unofficial offer on the house yesterday & I know there's one more person really keen to make an offer after they see the house for a 2nd time next week. The unofficial offer was 10k lower than the lowest offer I'd accept, but if worse comes to worst I'll probably accept it.

Anyhow, it's one more boring day at work and one more viewing this afternoon and then we have friends around for dinner. It's a good day.

That reminded me of Michael Caine's line in 'Miss Congeniality': 'Wear the crown. Be the crown. You are the crown' :D

Your current flat sounds amazing! Shame that you have to leave. :( How long have you been there?

Only since January, which is even MORE annoying. I'm trying to convince my housemate that we move into the Opera House.

A tenner? Wow. Inflation really has hit home.
