anyone still listen to anything with guitars? i can't be bothered starting separate threads so here's two recent faves

    workout by rendez vous
french new wave-y, pretty melodic if a bit loud with a bit of a sinister undertone - the whole ep is amazing. i always get a whiff of homoerotica from this one thanks to the closing lines.

    drive - lera lynn
has there ever been a shit song named drive? i know nothing about this woman but this song passed by my ears pretty uneventfully a few times and then one day i just had to listen to it. i think i might need to investigate. soundwise i'd say a bit sharon van etten, a bit aimee perhaps, a softer pj even. also someone else i can't quite put my finger on.

I am currently loving gothy post-punkers DESPERATE JOURNALIST

Hey gays, they have a female singer and everything.

I like The Big Moon, which you could describe as Sleeperesque.

PWR BTTM who have the best band name ever.

And Phantogram's 'You Don't Get Me High Anymore' which is catchy as.

this is one of my favourite songs of the past few years, but it's much poppier than most guitar music, very nu-new-wave (!) ...

Have preordered The Big Moon's album. I was going to post the excellent Ran by Future Islands but that is just synths all over really.

*whispers* the new Kasabian single is kind of groovy.

I do like that Anteros song, will have to investigate further.

While I would have loved more dance from Beth I am not opposed to her going in a rockier direction. Unfortunately I think the song is just OK. Hope there is stuff more to my liking on the album.

    a few good ones recently.

something sweet, delicate and sufjan-esque from angelo de augustine now signed to steven's label.

i don't know much about scottish band the twilight sad apart from the fact that this track sounds very retro (and really reminds me of something) but i really like it. something about the chorus and his voice on it and the twinkling synths innit.

part of the lyrics can give me a semi-cringe (think pieces of you era jewel) but i just love jessica chastain's voice on this and there's something simultaneously terribly melancholy and comforting in luluc's kids. the ending is epic, when the drums kick in and then the vocal repetition and then distortion, almost reminds me of low's masterpiece of an album. lovely.

it kinds rips off pj's to bring you my love but i love with this guy's style, his name is orville peck. i was ready to loon but his new one has dampened my enthusiasm a bit.

vagabond by steve gunn gives me a bit of a the smiths go country vibe but then i've never really listened to them so maybe i'm making it up.

finally, the lovely jessica pratt. i cannot emphasize how lovely she is.

That The Twilight Sad song is excellent. I've tried with Jessica Pratt before but her voice really isn't for me.

The new one by Jenny Lewis is great, it wouldn't be my drink of choice though. Very eighties Stevie:

The Marika Hackman one is great. It feels a bit livelier than her previous stuff.

i (think i) saw a trailer for some troll movie in which the baddie wanted to play rock music and had to be stopped.

but i digress. this one has some lick ass synths too.

Re The Regrettes, they also have this retro number which I like just as much:

Best to gloss over their cover of Don't Stop Me Now. Not sure who asked for that.

I feel it fits, either way I really like Nilüfer Yanya's debut Miss Universe. some choice tracks that makes me play the air guitar

DIIV are back with this great Sonic Youth-esque number

Also just discovered Surf Curse yesterday and Disco is excellent! I feel like the actress in the video needs to be the frontwoman for a band.

    Another one rather nof.

Very much into the new one by The Big Moon. Cute video too, 'choreography' and puppets:

I've liked the new stuff by Joseph. Not listened to the album in full yet but this is lovely:

a song from one of my favourite albums nobody heard of last year (postdata's let's be wilderness) got a video out of nowhere.

it's not great but it's funny cause it reminds me of a scene i did in a short dance film a couple of months ago (though she's obviously a better dancer [which is not hard]).

obsessed with this now. you should be more vocal when a song is this good.

now who does she sound uncannily like? i literally feel like i've dated that voice for at least a few months.
