It's the start of the Athletics, with Jessica Ennis and some other girl competing in the first few events of Heptathlon. There's also the old reliables of Rowing and Cycling for hot British medal action.

My boss at work's niece won Canada's first gold overnight in swimming. She's the first person born after 1 January 2000 to win a gold. I feel really old.

I think those of us born in the early 1980s may have to accept that our Olympic dream is over. :(

Although you should go and tell your boss that one of the American gymnasts who won team gold was also born after 1 January 2000, so his niece shouldn't feel all that special. Unless he was just talking about in swimming, in which case he's fine.

I've said it before, and i'll say it again:

All these live feeds and they only manage one for athletics? Absolutely shite. I'd for once like to watch an entire discus competition, or long jump, or javelin and not just seeing the highlights whilst we flit to track sports.

Also, the crowd is pretty threadbare, again.

Let's get Team Moopy together for Tokyo 2020. Who wants to be the 41 year old gymnast?

I wonder what the odds on a Farah/Rutherford/Ennis-Hill Super Saturday Mk II are?

Oh pants - what's the schedule like? Will it be the middle of the night when the three medals are decided?

Would he be Britain's first openly gay gold medalist?

Oh there's was one in 2012. One of the horse men.

But still, COME ON GAY TOM

Qualification for the men's long jump final is 1:20am this morning, with the final scheduled for 12:53am on Sunday, the 800m in the Decathlon is 2:50am on Sunday and 1:27am for the men's 10000m.

Why was the 10000m women's final on so early?

Has that been properly confirmed yet? Nothing on BBC so far.

I love the cat and mouse cycling, until it gets to GB vs GB

Also Andy Murray likely to play Monfils in the Tennis semi, Del Potro plays Nadal.
