It's been great to see the incredible reaction to the news of the new Warner CD! Thank you. Here's an update for you.

Firstly, the new remix of 'Give Me Some Kinda Magic' has been completed, with just a couple of tweaks to be made. It's taken 3 days work at 20 hours studio time a day, but it's been worth it! The version made is typically early 80s style but with undertones of a current conventional mix. Also, the full version of 'Dangerous Blondes' as it was originally intended as recorded, has been mixed and completed for this new release. You will love it!!

Provisionally, the album contains eighteen tracks.....or does it?! It will include 'Mirror Mirror', 'Give Me Back My Heart', 'Videotheque', 'Hand Held In Black And White', 'Takin' A Chance On You', 'You Take My Breath Away', 'The Girls Are Out To Get Ya' and two versions of 'Give Me Some Kinda Magic', plus a long version of 'Second Time Around' amongst many other classics.

It is due to be released on the Warner Platinum label on either the 19th or 26th of June. We'll let you know when it is available to pre-order.

I can now reveal the producer on this album is Dean Murphy (Bucks Fizz anyone?!) He was also the man responsible for the remixed 'Give Me Some Kinda Magic' and the full version of 'Dangerous Blondes' after being approached by Warner Bros.

Next update will include the full and final tracklisting in about two weeks.

    Until next time,

    Alan Connor - Executive Producer
    Dean Murphy - Album Producer

    I AM pleased :D

Incidentally, if you go to the 'rare audio' section on www.dollarsite.co.uk, there's a demo of 'Mirror Mirror' with Trevor Horn on vocals.

'Mirror Mirror', 'Videotheque' and 'Hand Held In Black And White' ALONE make it worth the asking price.

There's some really rather amusing Dollar v Bucks Fizz fan rivalry on the message boards on that forum :D

No 'Oh Lamour' or 'Natures Way'?

They were on a different label though, weren't they?

Shame there is no "Oh L'Amour" on it though, though the different label will be the reason

Yet London nowadays is owned by Warner, so that SHOULDN'T be a problem. :geek:

Anyway, I wouldn't mind a proper collection myself. I only own the big hits in re-recorded versions on a VERY low-budget '80s box set, in the tinniest home-made Casio production you can imagine. It also includes several Sabrina tracks and a LaToya Jackson track called "Sexual Feeling" :D

Videotheque and Hand Held In Black And White are my favourites, but Mirror Mirror is a towering work of pop genius to these ears.

I don't know what Radio station the post team at my work listen to but I must find out. Yesterday I walked past and heard SOS by ABBA, and today it was 'Give Me Back My Heart'. :disco:

Scrap 'Videotheque' for 'I wanna hold your hand' and I agree. Its understatedness is brilliant. :disco:

I notice it's missing from the list, aswell as the early stuff? Is it a case of a different label like 'Oh L'Amour'? Which I also love.

More Cherry Pop madness. Their albums 'The Paris Collection' and 'The Dollar Album' are being reissued in February.

So I've taken delivery of "The Dollar Album" this VERY MORNING

And it's REALLY QUITE GOOD. I imagine it went VERY DOWNHILL after that, but Trevor knows what he's doing WELL ENOUGH. I'm QUITE IMPRESSED...

Firstly, why did I EVER think "Mirror Mirror" was anything less than SENSATIONAL and secondly, Cherry Pop have finally gotten around to releasing Thereza's 1985 solo effort "The Big Kiss"- which is known for being one of the most monumental flops of all time (the liner notes suggest it was the most expensive record made at MCA...not clear if it was "to that point" or ever) and it generated a #84 UK, #53 Netherlands hit in the title track and absolutely fuck all elsewhere.

However, one play in, it's really quite good...

I don't remember anything other than the title track which is good. One of Mr L's friends however has been anticipating this reissue for YEARS.

I'm agog that the label invested so much in her, really. I mean Dollar didn't have THAT many hits, they never shifted albums, she was effectively David Van Day's backing singer, and has a paper thin voice.

It just makes you wonder how a Jay Aston solo career could have gone, had she not been blacklisted and if a label had been willing to spend a similar amount on her, which doesn't seem that much of a stretch if Thereza warranted it.

I bet Jay would have gone top 80 at least... :(

The thought had crossed my mind- it wasn't as if Dollar were so SUPER SUCCESSFUL that they thought she would be the breakout star. It's BIZARRE. Unless, of course, it's bollocks written into the sleevenotes- there is another bit in there about a previously unreleased song called "Right or Wrong" written with Madge writer Jon Lind which featured "early elements of what would go on to be Madonna's "Crazy for You". LITERALLY NOT THE REMOTEST BIT ALIKE.

Since @Sheena posted this undeniable MAX TRACK in the TOTP thread I have played it quite a bit. Good to see that it is getting a CD release on this everything including the kitchen sink seven disc collection and the rather more sensible two disc GH. I will be getting the latter.

Naturally I’ve gone in for the whole shebang. Especially with the free (pointless) bonus cd you get from buying direct with Cherry Pop :disco:

Hold on, so I've just noticed I'm forking out for the "whole shebang" and there's additional bits on that 2 disc GH that aren't included in the box set. Not that it matters TOO much to someone like me who isn't a die hard, but I'm paying £50 for fucks' sake. This constant milking of the reissue market is really getting on my BREASTS.

No, I just have more money than sense.

I meant more that I won't bother going for the Greatest Hits as well, but would it really have hurt to chuck a fiver on the price, maybe, and thrown the Greatest Hits in with the box set or something?

Exactly, it is quite SHODDY. Dollar are having their burger and eating it too calling it both 'exhaustive' and a 'phenomenal companion collection' to the GH.
