Well he's now certain to be the nominee and the apocalypse is approaching.

 

Not certain, but very likely given the Republicans have shown fuck all clue on what to do about him. Rubio must be furious with Kasich. It's almost hilarious how a lot of the GOP higher ups seemed to switch from 'we won't attack him so we get his votes when he drops out' to 'HE'S INEVITABLE WE MAY AS WELL GET ON BOARD'.

Still think Hillary will win against him though. For all the (actually fairly patronising) claims of how the 'white working class' will all love him, a lot of the hype doesn't really consider how much a lot of people who even voted Romney really dislike him.

 

If there's one upside of Trump's success, it's that the lovely Ann Coulter is about to appear on C4 news.

 

She's disgusting.

 

This is such a bizarre mess. I can't quite believe it's real.

I think she just doesn't like warmongers.

Mitt Romney is surely seen as an insider by Trump fans, this will have no bearing.

 

Not with Trump fans, but it will in November if nothing else.

And it probably won't stop him, but it might have an effect on people who haven't made their minds up who respect him - his reputation isn't anywhere near as bad with the Republican rank and file as Blair's was with Labour. And unlike Corbyn, Trump doesn't have majority support yet in the primaries.

 

It seem undeniable right now, but it's not too late for someone else to get ahead, if the others just dropped out. Having said that, wouldn't we prefer Trump who is less likely to win against Clinton?

It's the total opposite of 2008. It's damaged goods all round.

It really is BEYOND PARODY now isn't it.Surely he can't win with against an incumbent Democratic government? Why would anyone swing back from voting Obama in the last election to voting Trump in this one? I suppose the hope is he mobilises the white working class who don't usually vote, but surely his huge numbers so far have been on account of the extremes of the republican party, and he's not going to convince any swing voters in the middle surely?

Only a 5% chance of a brokered convention?

 

The best thing about all of this is Real Time with Bill Maher. Living for the jokes he's getting out of this.

 

Or is it only a 5% chance of someone other than Trump, Cruz or Kasich coming out victorious from a brokered convention?

 

I'd immediately write off Cruz and Kasich in the event of a brokered convention - surely the only other option would be a compromise candidate not voted on until that point? I'd give that outcome at the very least a one in ten chance, if not more.

 

To be honest at this point, I'm rooting for Trump for the Republican nomination, as the only possible alternative (Cruz) is even worse.
