Was the Turing thing as good as Derek Jacobi's "Breaking The Code"?
I don't know coz I AIN'T SEEN THAT
Tonight the last part of LUVVIE and OLD QUEEN Simon Russell Beale's story of the SYMPHONY
The best thing about this is the way he is always spotted eating CAKE at all possible opportunities
I WANTED to watch MELV BRAGG's show about John Steinbeck at 8 this evening but for REASONS THAT ARE NOT OBVIOUS TO ME it has been replaced with TEDIOUS OLD FOSSIL ATTENBOROUGH going on about POPULATION CONTROL
BBC4 are ALWAYS pulling things at the last minute. There's a Room at the Top adaptation from months ago that STILL hasn't been shown, because about five hours before it was meant to air they realised nobody had cleared the rights to make the thing. And recently they had to cancel repeating The Singing Detective for similar reasons
I bet Steinbeck's RISEN from the GRAVE and threatened to SUE
And i wish Simon Russell Beale would present things i want to watch. Though him eating cake sounds quite appealing enough.
ot: i quite fancy John Steinbeck
HELLO TURNER PRIZE
It's a shame "Of Mice And Men" is just fucking TERRIBLE.
STRAP ON YOUR RASPBERRY BERET and LUBE UP that AUBERGINE, it's time for the PRINCE STORY
They're spending a lot of time on the early years, which is good but I have a feeling after they cover Purple Rain it may be a quick skip to record company feuds, name changes and the more recent touring comeback
I'd have thought TREVOR would have known better than to say the REVOLUTION was disbanded AFTER Sign O'The Times
I quite ENJOYED that. Who else do we have in this little SERIES-ette then?
Next week PUBLIC ENEMY
Public Enemy seem a little OUT OF PLACE
Was Phyllis Nelson BUSY?
No she was DEAD
It's LIONEL RICHTEA TIME
As one F Chong once sang, HERRO? IS ME YOU LOOK FOR?
She's a BRICK
She's MIGHTY MIGHTY
Just letting it ALL HANG OUT
It was all downhill from there...SHLOCKTASTICA here we come
Lionel never WAS much cop, but I'll investigate...
It was really quite BORING
Although Lionel is quite TRANSFIXINGLY ODD-LOOKING
Well there's been FUCK ALL ON RECENTLY
Until NOW when we bring you...
The TOP OF THE POPS CHRISTMAS SPECIAL 1976
LEGS & CO do DANCING QUEEN
WHY OH WHY is poor TINA CHARLES singing 'I Love To Love' outside on a GANTRY in a DESERTED CAR PARK in some VERY UNFLATTERING KNITWEAR?
She's just a DEVIL WOMAN
With EVIL ON HER MIND
Beware the DEVIL WOMAN
She's gonna GET YOU FROM BEHIND
I like DEMIS ROUSSOS
"It's a PITY he's so FAT"
"Yeah, but he doesn't SOUND IT, though, when you HEAR HIM"
As much as I LOVE 'Combine Harvester' (seriously, blame it on a west country childhood), this is a bit more FESTIVE

I wonder if Lyndsey and Mike ever fucked.
Apologies for the intrusion but it's REM night tonight - 2 programmes, the first is one of those cobbled "...at the BBC" numbers, the second their classic "Later" from around the time of "Up". It contains the absolute best version of "Country Feedback" they ever played as well and is worth it for that alone. I mean, "Lotus" actually sounds quite good and that's saying something.
I now return you to your scheduled programme
I just bought IN TIME (and BEST OF BOWIE) from the CD RECYCLING SHOP so I may well PARTAKE
I think OLD JEWS TELLING JOKES may be the greatest television show of all time.
I am very much looking forward to DISCO NIGHT next Friday.
Oh loves it's the JOY OF DISCO right now
That is if I can persuade the POWERS THAT BE get THE MOST INCREDIBLE BLOODY THING of the STEREO for ONCE where it seems to have taken up PERMANENT RESIDENCE...why I do NOT KNOW, it's REALLY NOT THAT GOOD
Oh I am thoroughly enjoying "Disco At The BBC" now
And now "Queens of Disco"
Feck knows what MADGE is doing on it though. Hopefully that will be at the end so I can go to bed
Gloria Gaynor looks AMAZING
Who the ACTUAL FUCK is JEANIE TRACY who keeps POPPING UP on these programmes? I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF HER
OMG LINDA ROBSON before she DIED
Andy Bell on Sylvester - "My voice is nothing like his"
She did a cover of Don't Leave Me This Way, didn't she... but then so has practically everyone I suppose.
I have these disco programmes recorded ready to watch at an opportune time.
I watched the lot in one sitting (well, the two docs- "Disco at the BBC" will have to wait.
LOVED them both, though "Queens of Disco" was obviously made fourteen years ago. ISH. Loved Grace Jones OFF HER FACE on champagne and quite blatantly slurring though
I noticed the year at the end of Queens of Disco - I THINK it was 2007. Oh well my comment about Gloria Gaynor looking FABULOUS still stands
I've just googled it and it appears it was 2006 and a certain FALOOLA was aware at the time http://discodelivery.blogspot.com/2006/03/queens-of-disco-with-graham-norton-on.html
