Let's have a REVIVAL so I can TALK TO MYSELF about the DANNY BAKER OLD PEOPLE REMEMBER VINYL ALBUMS show that's on this week (a.k.a. GREAT ALBUM SHOWDOWN)

The first part about ROCK with Jezza Clarkson and the VERY SPRIGHTLY STEPHEN STREET was a rather unpromising start and quite DREARY, but yesterday's instalment with BOY GEORGE and GRACE DENT was simply JOYOUS and fair brought a tear to my CYNICAL OLD EYE

    Grace chose

HOUNDS OF LOVE by KATE BUSH
HATFUL OF HOLLOW by THE SMITHS
and FIRST AND LAST AND ALWAYS by the SISTERS OF MERCY

    I THINK I LOVE HER

I enjoyed the pop album show. Nice to see Boy George being good for than a cheap soundbite. And to see that he's lost a few pounds and no longer needs to paint his neck black.

I hope they repeat the other two Danny Baker things - I am enjoying this one, apart from Mica's RELENTLESS JIBBER JABBER

I really enjoyed the Pop and R&B ones, but they didn't let Martin Freeman get a word in edgeways.

Oh I caught some of this. My friends mother is obsessed with Dust and refuses to believe she was a Lesley. "Look at her eye make up. Her style. How could she be?"

I keep getting annoyed when TOTP isn't on. I'm sure the strikes didn't extend this far and it's bloody Saville's fault. If so, can't they just edit him out.

It's him and DLT that they won't know. Can't wait for them to get to the 1980s so we don't have to keep putting up with this crap.

They both presented it until 1984 according to wikipedia. And has a decision been made on the John Peel ones yet?

There have certainly been allegations of under age sex, albeit when he was very much younger (I think). It's been referred to in other threads here. I don't get any sense of him being persona non grata like the others, but surely the BBC must be sensitive about it.

John Peel's indiscretions have been known about for a while I thought? Long before Saville. Not sure what his allegations were about but there didn't seem to be a big fuss made about it.

This BARRY WHITE concert is something else :D

He keeps WADDLING AROUND the AUDIENCE being TOUCHED by all kinds of SEVENTIES LADIES

I don't think that happened when I saw him in BIRMING-HAM in 1995

Did anyone watch Burton & Taylor with Helena Bonham-Carter and Dominic West?

I thought it was very good. I couldn't really buy Helena Bonham Carter as Elizabeth Taylor, only because she looks nothing like her. But I definitely bought into the story and found the end very poignant.

Leonora Critchlow's bizarre wandering accent was most distracting however.
