2001 Fever 2005 Robyn 2005 Confessions on a Dance Floor 2007 Blackout 2009 The Fame Monster 2013 Beyoncé 2015 E-MO-TION 2020 Future Nostalgia Yes it joins MY list of the Best Female Pop Albums of the Past 20 Years
Music Week said that 83% of 5SOS's sales were on physicals, including 12000(!) cassettes. Look at the singles chart, they have no streaming power and that'll be what's needed for the album charts for the summer. We're already seeing a lot of this - loon fanbases purchasing big via bundles on websites in week one and then a total collapse. Morrissey debuted at No 3 last week and is out if the top 100 this week. 5SOS have historically had a little more chart staying power than, say, The Vamps but they won't sell another 12000 cassettes next week.
5SOS mysteriously sold 12500 copies (mainly CASSETTES!) between Thursday and Friday leading to speculation online their label may have POPPED INTO A RECORD STORE OR TWO to secure the number one That said, Dua was selling bundles of 3 cassettes through her website, alongside offering signed prints to any CD orders made through her site so she was hardly playing CLEAN herself
And that's Beyonce and I totally understand but it's purely from my own point of view hence the emphasis on MY.
This is my issue. Dua dropped the album to £4.99 on iTunes and advertised this herself (buy it for a friend or some shit) alongside the signed prints and cassette bundles. She is hardly the victim. Would’ve been nice to see her at number one but in 2020 the charts are hardly viewed as important as they used to be.
Hold on a minute, though, isn’t there a difference between heavy discounting and just, well, MAKING UP SALES
YES it's officially my first 10 of the album. It needs to be the summer single, it would smash. I haven't heard such a feel good pop song since "All the Lovers" I guess I'm ready for the summer! OOOOOhhOOOOOOOOOhhhhhh!
I don't think Cool is a smash. Its Spotify plays are lagging a good way behind Levitate, Hallucinate and also now Pretty Please. All would do better as singles I reckon.
After listening to it for a few times....have to say that this may be my album of the year...or maybe even of the decade....After not having any physical copies bought so far..started collecting it today. I have just bought a Japanese CD and the colorful cassettes (used f..... eBay, since she sold them out). COOL is definitely the finest moment of her! If only Kylie's new album was so good as this Dua Lipa's effort!
Well, hun, it's one and the same. Thank god its a new decade so the gays can get away with such hyperbole!
During an Instagram live with Roman Kemp for Capital FM, Dua Lipa revealed there will be a deluxe version of "Future Nostalgia"
Talking about a deluxe version the week after your album was out does STING a little But if she is going to deliver even more songs to save the world, then sign me up for the pre-order
I'm quite fine about the re-release as long as it is a kitchen sink affair, two or three new songs won't do. The Live in LA Don't Start Now would be nice too.
wow and what a gobful of an acronym that is in second #01 Finland #01 Ireland #01 New Zealand #02 Australia #02 Belgium #02 Norway #02 UK #03 Italy #03 Netherlands #04 Germany #04 Sweden #04 US Queen is truly global! In fact the only European market where she missed top 5 so far is French-speaking Belgium, et baiser ces fils de putes. Here's how Break My Heart entered: #03 Ireland #06 UK #07 Australia #12 New Zealand #15 Finland #18 Switzerland #20 Norway #21 Italy #22 Netherlands #23 Sweden #26 Germany Hot 100 placement should be out tonight - expect top 30 or so. Physical should get a new peak too.
Record stores have been closed. The seething Dua loons about it being unfair (elsewhere not here) are amusing me because they are completely overlooking Dua has her own bundle and cassette deals going on.
The CD itself doesn't come signed - they send you a signed photo which it says on the website "may arrive at a later date".
I notice there's a fuss about 5SOS not being #1 in the US because some of their sales were excluded. Apparently some of their pre-orders were shipped a day early so they were deemed not to count.
They did count, but to the previous week's sales, which obviously fucked their shot at #1 in the end. Good!
Oh, my CD came in a wee card envelope. There was Instagram footage of her signing about forty squillion cards.
So our QUARANTINE QUEEN is the first British female to have three songs in the top 10 since Ruby Murray in 1955. I wonder if Dua can become rhyming slang.
That’s AMAZING for Dua...BUT didn’t it have a first week radio deal in the States PAYLOA RETURNS That BMH is already a bigger hit in the States than One Kiss is quite mad
that was borderline genius WHY hasn't she done of these for Physical yet - still not performed on TV anywhere!
