I don't know if I'd go THAT far, but looking younger than your own son is quite the feat.
Ian Beale really is the most unattractive cretin this world could offer.
Well Gillian Taylforth is only 62 - Adam Woodyatt is 50.
Obviously she started out playing Kathy as older than she was, but now it looks ridiculous. Kathy must be at least 70 by now.
And wasn't there an older daughter as well, who died of an overdose?
Amazing scene between Linda and Sharon about LADY DIANE IN HEAVEN X tonight
Now where has this storyline with Shakeel and Keegan come from? It feels like another episode is missing.
I think it was set up in the episode when Keegan nicked the bike.
Was that not tonight’s episode?
Yeah sorry, I was responding to Star thinking she had missed an episode but it all started with this one.
Bless Shaki though, i'm glad he's proud of his heritage.
I couldn’t watch this episode as it brings back
too many memories of my situation from about 12 years ago but I have to applauded the BBC for covering a storyline like this.
I know there are a plethora of reasons for this (different timeslot, nice weather, Love Island’s popularity) but last night’s episode was only watched by 2.9 million people!
There was a Saturday episode?
Friday, my apologies.
I've been finding it hard going with all the double bills and hour-long episodes all over the place, I can't imagine casual viewers seeking it out (particularly since not very much has been happening lately).
I also haven’t watched much but the current Mick storyline just feels a little bit heavy and unnecessary.
I actually think they need to ditch the Carters in order to revive the show a bit. To be the central family in the Square, they’re now far, far too small.
Exactly the same happened with Kat and Alfie. They rapidly ran out of storylines and became completely disinteresting.
Really powerful scenes tonight, Bonnie Langford really is one of the best actors in the cast when they give her something to do.
What a fantastically well made episode. Absolutely heartbreaking.
Absolutely amazing. I wasn't expecting that and was completely blown away by it. Good for Eastenders tackling the subject in such a way.
Anyone for another random returnee?
It was so long ago that I barely remember what Ruby was like - she was friends with Stacey and a bit of a wet blanket most of the time, I think? Maybe she's followed in her dad's footsteps and become the QUEEN OF CRIME.
It’s certainly a RANDOM comeback but I did like her initial stint.
Kate Oates is the new executive producer (also taking on Holby City and Casualty).
She’s got form at least. I think her work on Corrie was pretty solid despite the complaints about it not having enough humour. Shouldn’t be a problem for Eastenders
Slightly OT: Drama are showing EE right from the beginning, calling it 'Classic Eastenders' and I have it on series link, last night I watched the very first episode. Was quite interesting, especially Kathy Beale putting on such a strong cockney sparrow accent, something they don't really do now. Lou Beale was going around moaning about 'The Asians' too
Very OT: I am totally AGOG at what just went down on Emmerdale.
Honey is really irritating me. Those facial expressions
This shooting “drama” is so completely uninteresting.
Or rather, why would anyone enter the Vic with a gun and not get rid of fucking useless Tina?
As someone who doesn't watch any more, the very idea of tuning in for another shooting incident, is completely unappealing.
From the little I know, it's so confusing that the Carters have so many nemesis. Also I don't care.
How many people have been shot this year, so far?
I don't know. I expect quite a few. The reliance on an assortment of disasters is so Hollyoaks.
I imagine only Janine could bring me back.
I love Kat, when she's being feisty, but it all inevitably ends is some emotional tosh, trying to recreate "you're not my mother". So even she hasn't drawn me back.
They REALLY need to get the Carters out of the Vic, I think.
Sharon and Keanu as the new Vic owners please.
Oh yes please! Sharon in full-on sexy eyes affair mode has been such a treat.
Sharon needs to get longer skirts though
It seems to me, on reflection, that the current producer seems to have forgotten that Mick Carter is not Danny Dyer. It’s a huge shame that he’s gone from playing a big-hearted softie to a watered down version of one of his straight-to-DVD gangster characters.
So was it Mick that shot Stuart and Linda just got rid of the evidence?
Is she still married to Phil? He looks like he’s on the verge of dropping dead anyway and even I’ve lost interest in the puffy old scrote
I am no longer watching.
Janine and Chrissie Watts would bring me back - and give Sharon the Vic.
But it was Tina that brought in the gun from that Dylan bloke, then didn't call the ambulance?
