My rather right wing friend has just left his voting decision to his 6 year old nephew in Ireland. He's called the pub after discussing it with mummy and is now voting Remain :D

Is Sandie Shaw leave or remain? I genuinely wouldn't know and the comments in this thread made me none the wiser :D

I didn't see the debate but my mum messaged me today with "Sandie Shaw!!! What was all that about?"

Fortunately she was very impressed with Sheila Hancock and voted Remain.

Sheila Hancock has been the highlight of the TV debates if any of my Remain leaning, older skewing demographic facebooks friends are anything to go by.

The winners from last night's debate: Sheila Hancock and Michelle Gayle

The losers from last night's debate: Pretty much everyone but special mention to Sandie Shaw and Selina Scott

I went to Wetherspoons for lunch today and noticed a couple of posters outside saying "Only Wetherspoons will give you the truth about Europe". If I'd had a drink I'd have ripped it down.

Never underestimate the power of an old white woman talking about the war.

How did your parents vote is probably a separate poll in itself.

Start it! My mother was absolutely disgusted with one of her friends who stated "I'm voting leave, because I hate Angela Merkel and my grandparents were in the war". She was agog.

I know it's a crass way to judge these things, but there really isn't a single high-profile pro Brexiter who you wouldn't happily push into a vat of liquid feacal matter, is there?

I'm been banging on all day to my Family WhatsApp group about voting Remain and I even promised them booze if they vote.

But they were going to do it anyway! Yay my family!

Seriously tempted to nap right now so I can watch until the small hours. I won't make it unless I do.

But if I do so and it goes the way of Brexit, I won't be able to sleep. Think I'll try and ride it out and let adrenaline keep me going.

Re the Local Authority projected votes list - is that on an assumption of a tied 50/50 vote nationally? If so, then I presume we should be able to work out roughly how it going by about 1:30 - 2:00am.

Re turnout - I voted after work tonight and I was in a queue of about 3-4, so definitely more than the local council / PC elections. Can't say re the general election as I voted earlier in the day back then.

I will probably end up staying up most of the night watching the results (even though I'm working tomorrow).

    Recent turnout in Scotland:

    Referendum, September 2014: 85%
    General Election, May 2015: 71%
Scottish Parliament Elections, May 2016: 55%

If it's above 75% across the UK that'll be quite something

I'm not staying up. I have friends and family directly affected by this and I'll drive myself nuts if I watch it happen - I'm going to try and sleep instead. I know I'll be up well before my alarm tomorrow but hey...

My best mate sent me a screenshot of him buying a big bag of him texting a dealer buying a big bag of ket so he can sit on his own getting confused by the results. I'm slightly jealous.

    An hour to go.

They really need to move elections to the weekend, I assume there'll be terrible queuing as has become common place in recent years.

I know most countries in Europe vote on Sunday, but I'd prefer Saturday voting so that we can watch the results all night and not worry about the work tomorrow.

Having said that, having the count on Thursday night / Friday morning is probably better for those who are counting as at least then have the weekend to recover from their overnight work.
