    I don’t get what’s terrible about it.

That just leaves Moldova left to declare from the regular participants - they're almost always last to go public though so a withdrawal seems unlikely. With Hungary out, but Ukraine and Bulgaria back in, we can anticipate 42 countries next year, barring any surprises.

It's official - 41 countries to participate. Same number as last year, but we lose Hungary and Montenegro and re-gain Bulgaria and Ukraine.

Losing Hungary and Montenegro, gaining Ukraine and Bulgaria, I’d call that a good trade

I'll miss Montenegro. Frequently terrible but a true wildcard.

Hungary - MEH. I suspect we won't see them back for a good while.

I was sad to see there was no Adio thread for Montenegro 2015 that I could see, it’s still great

Of course it’s sad to lose any country, but Hungary have been one of the more tragic ones in recent years for me. “Running” was OK, but we have to go back as far as Kati Wolf for the last time they REALLY brought it.

Hungary's problem is that their selection process became so far up its own arse. it was all 'real' music and any song which was even a touch mainstream got terrible votes by the jury and they held so much power they could pretty much decide each song that progressed. The show also got terrible viewing figures and Eurovision is just not popular there, so it's a surprise they even lasted this long before pulling out!

So we have our logo too, or is it an infographic?

actually I like it, and I’m sure this isn’t the end of what they’ll do with it. Not sure how it’ll move but it basically captures stats and flags which is half of what I love about Eurovision.

cant help but think it would be better if there were new countries joining though, we’ve only had Australia in the last 10 years right?

I like the logo, although I can't find one out of Greece/Finland/Israel in there - as far as i can tell there are only two segments with only blue and white.

The logo and stage are alright. But I don’t really give a shit about them to be honest. Maybe I’m not as hardcore a fan as I thought...

You're not alone, I have a friend that is obsessed with stages and he starts talking to me about the 1993 one or whatever, as if I remember this year's :D He started texting me the other day to make me watch the Junior version because the stage was better than the ESC one. As if I care, as if I was going to watch that.

I’m into the stages too, but the visualisation photos they show never really help me get a an idea of anything until the actual show happens

They’re there, Greece and Israel side by side, and they were the only newbies in their respective years, so they get a mini slice each. But if they share colours with neighbouring countries like Finland did, they just make the block wider

Sorry to bang on, but there is something a little strange going on with Finland. They debuted with Spain and Yugoslavia in the same year, so their colours get merged together. But it looks like they might have added Yugoslavia’s colours, but not shown the flag entering the mix

I don’t know where to post this, but are we aware that the Eurovision YouTube channel has been dropping a new grand final every week? 2015 onwards were already live streamed, but they’ve just dropped 2011 as well as 2012-2014 last month. I wonder where they’ll stop

The EBU owns the rights to all the contests from 2004 onwards so hopefully they’ll go back to there at least.
