S.O.A.P. were fantastic. I always thought 'Stand by You' would be the perfect song for a montage at the end of some American teen high school film.

    Rare 'live' performance by Crush.

After all the use they got out of them, those outfits must've honked.

I did some lusty snakebite fuelled kissing at a metal club with the bass player from The Faders. Those were the days.

God I love this cover. So quintessentially 90s. The pantsuits, the hairdos, the cellphones :D

How utterly queer that one of them could end up as our future monarch's auntie.

This lot auditioned for The X Factor this week and took it all so hideously seriously. They didn't make it through.

Again? I think that's how they might have started in the first place back in 2006!

This was when they were trying to get 'Better The Devil Records' up and running and it was just a mess of acts. These, Fast Food Rockers, Pringles ad singer Ateed and another attempt at making 'Santa Maria' hit the big-time.

    How the mighty fall.

The original was so much better!

It was me and my boss at the time who got them signed in the UK as we were so obsessed with the youtube video and kept playing it in the office. Mike Stock, of course, sucked half the fun out of it.

Their promo trip to London was one of the highlights of my career though. They came to my Halloween party, the blonde one did Real Dead Ringer For Love on karaoke with me then got fingered on a nightbus.

Ha, (the camped up remix version of) The Hazzards was quite possibly the first CD I ever bought. I was nine. And my taste has been on a downward spiral ever since.

And Swing My Hips (Do the Sex Dance) is still an absolute anthem. It would have got top forty but had a good percentage taken off for it because the Establishment thought "touch my eyes" promoted teen conjunctivitis. Not to mention the deposit on the van!!!

Doodvid, you will NOT be surprised to know I have every one of them on SINGLE! Sadly not Gayle and Gillian on CD which goes for about £100.

I was even in Milan's fan club, and my name was in a list of about 100 others on the Everytime CD single.

    Oh Kala.

I fear that if we ever met, the strength and combination of our crap-pop-memories could cause a rip in the fabric of space/time through which Fem@il could finally emerge and establish themselves as our true lords and masters.

Yes, perhaps! But Lolly would have to be Queen.

This lot were from Australia where they were HUGE for about 6 months, but they qualify for this thread as they had stuff released in the UK. They were my first proper girl band obsession in 1993. I had their album on cassette and played it so much I broke it!

Not so much failed as never pushed in the UK, but I'm completely obsessed with this song at the moment.

Gearing up for what will undoubtedly be a stellar career, The Piccadillys - a group put together by a Manchester based radio station and produced by that shit-sniffer-outer himself, Mike Stock.

    http://www.manchester.gov.uk/switchonlive?dm_i=PR8,2XMWG,45W62U,ALE2V,1 (at 17:30)

Sadly not an new composition by Stock although I have fallen slightly in love with the original 'Music Everywhere' by a Scandinavian (NO EUROVISION CONNECTION) called Anna Abreu and am kicking myself for not entering it for 'A Song For Moopy' this time round.

RB, is it true that Mike Stock is what you might describe as a not very nice person? I'm sure that I read a quote from Pete Burns to that effect...

M2M was my childhood:disco: little Jætike was gutted that they disbanded when she first stumbled upon their music. I scoured the island for both their albums and still follow their careers today. They remain very much bubblegum pop idols in the Philippines till today

Great tracks from Billie, B*Witched, Vitamin C and M2M.

Obviously Soda Pop is one of the lowest points in pop music ever...

Is Shampoo failed enough for this thread ?
