With the exciting news that Nadine will be single handedly recording the sixth Girls Aloud album the time is right to vote on Moopy's favourite from their epic back catalogue. Surely one of the few pop acts who work both as a singles and albums act.

Can someone edit the random number 5 choice out of the poll options for me please? I'm not quite sure how that happened.

'Out Of Control' has its highlights (which certainly don't include the crushing career low of 'The Promise' and the DISGUSTING COVER :manson:) but the sheer pop thrill of hearing 'Girl Overboard' for the first time on the 236 bus home from work means that my heart belongs to 'Tangled Up' :disco:

That 'last place in an online CD cover competition' Out of Control cover still holds its power to SHOCK AND OFFEND nearly 10 years on. Is the original thread where it was first revealed still knocking about? I imagine the live reaction was QUITE SOMETHING :disco:

As for the albums, the first seven tracks of Tangled Up are PERFECTION ITSELF (CLOSE TO LOVE! GIRL OVERBOARD!) but Chemistry is about as close to art as pop gets.

looking at the tracklists now, i always thought we wanna party was on the standart edition of out of control. that and fix me up drag it firmly behind tangled up for me.

i recently played best song of all time (exaggerate much, yes) close to love at the bar and it killed not only the dancefloor but the bar area as well. people are so stupid.

i was late to the ga train (i think it was something kinda ooh that proper got me into them after only the sound of the underground reaching these borders) and i'm only just noticing nicola forgetting to start singing to the chorus in the biology video.

oh, was that my cue then? :D

Is the "Out of Control" cover really that offensive when pretty much all of their album covers are more or less shit?

"tangled up" is surely their most coherent album? They even refrained from including "UK bonus" tracks. I love the singles, "girl overboard", "fling" and even "crocodile tears"

Best album track is "swinging london town" however of course.

The worst of the others look half arsed or like nobody could be bothered. Out Of Control looks like layer upon layer of piss poor ideas. 'Yeah, that's really shit. Now how can we make it even worse?'

I did a kneejerk vote. And I may stand by it.

But I'm definitely going to compile a Spotify playlist of album tracks for tomorrow to help me to decide. What an EMBARRASSMENT OF RICHES :disco:

I think Chemistry pips it for coherence, but only just. Tangled Up goes off the rails a bit for the second half.

Is that the original first album cover, or the reissue? I remember one was white and the other black, but I can't remember which was which.

And if I stop, I'm sickened, it really gets me down
So I step back into the city lights, the QUEEN OF LONDON TOWN :disco::disco::disco:

The highlight of course being that harrowing guitar at 0:53 which implies that she's secretly having a TRULY HORRIBLE TIME :disco:

Right I've HAD IT - it's been TOO LONG without these BRILLIANT STRUMPETS

Someone get Nicola off Office Angels! Someone get Sarah out of the Priory! Someone get Kimberley out of the ROMNEY MARSHES! And for heaven's sake someone GET CHERLY OUT OF THOSE FOUL JUICY COUTURE LOUNGERS and to STOP PRETENDING anything other than KIMBA'S FIST has been IN AND OUT THAT FLANGE ANY TIME RECENTLY!

For some reason I imagine Kimba has quite a floppy fist that couldn't punch its way out of a WET PAPER BAG.

But then I imagine WET PAPER BAG is probably quite a good description for CHERLY'S YEAST CAKE

I've thought about it hard for an hour. Obviously SOTU and WWTNS are immediately disqualified as they have lots of filler and are really half albums.

I prefer Out of Control to Tangled up because the highs are higher and the lows arent as low. After Control of the Knife, Tangled up is basically WWTNS part 2. So it's between OOC and Chemistry.

I have to go Chemistry. There isnt a bad song on it (except See the Day of course which doesnt count). The singles are great (except See the Day), it has their best song (Biology), their best ballad (Whole Lotta History) and those two hidden gems in Swinging London Town and It's Magic. It's also by far their most consistent album.

And yes it is astonishing just how bad all of their album covers are o_O O_o o.O O.o

Are you really suggesting that the first two albums dont have filler? Everything on Underground that isnt a Xenomania production is average and WWTNS is heavily top loaded. I like both albums but we've been asked which we think is the best and I dont see how anyone could possibly make a case for the first two albums.
