She's been getting some UNDESERVED STICK lately. Not doing a survivor as there's quite a few that won't be known really. I'm going to bracket some of the obscurities as Other.

I really must invest in her Greatest Hits. I have Private Dancer, Break Every Rule and Foreign Affair but I don't remember many of her hits post-that. Although of course I remember When The Heartache Is Over.

My favourite is definitely Private Dancer. Fantastic song and her vocal is just wonderful.

The good version of River Deep Mountain High is solo. I have 2 versions and the one with Ike is crap.

It just reminds me of Calista Flockhart in that Ally McBeal episode winning the dance contest - AS IF she was better than Jane Krakowski :zombie:

She never released her version of Let's Pretend We're Married, did she? It's good, but not the same without the FILTH.

Whenever anyone mentions Tina, the first thing that comes to my mind is the Shirley Bassey/Tom Jones Rock Profile episode.

    "HE? Tina TURNER?"

I love her version of I Can't Stand The Rain. It's near impossible to listen to without pulling absurd lip-quivering facial expresions. :D

She's never knowingly understated, our Tina.

I do quite like 'The Best', maligned as it is these days.

The chorus is a bit meh, but the verses are quite good.

Totally doesn't deserve all the overplay it gets though, she's had tons better.

    You're not alone.

Kinda strange that Lulu gave it away! Not like she was overburdened with hits in the 90s...

You mean she has more than ONE song?

When I was a LITTLE GIRL I had a RAG DOLL
The only doll I EVER owned

One of the best records ever, but then it was SPECTOR, so of course it would've been.. that was his wall of sound pushed to the limit and when it flopped in the US he lost the plot and shot someone. Allegedly.

Undeserved stick? :D From whom? People who aren't subjected to her caterwauling 24/7 on Heart FM?

I really need to see her live. I hope she tours again.

Tina Live In Europe = the best live album ever. BUY IT VoR!

She's ace. I think On Silent Wings is actually my favourite at the moment.

I seen her when she toured with "Wildest Dreams" and then again for "Twenty Four Seven", the first time was A LOT better and was one of my first ever concerts, the venue and seats didn't help for the latter, which despite paying £55 for were WAY up the back.

It's SO hard to choose as she's got loads of bona fide classics.

I've gone for The Best but it could easily have been River Deep Mountain High, Goldeneye, When The Heartache Is Over, Private Dancer, Steamy Windows, I Don't Wanna Fight, Nutbush City Limits... I really love Tina.

River Deep Mountain High, though I quite like some of her eighties stuff too. I used to have a Simply The Best on tape, but strangely I never bothered to get any Tina on CD.

She can KEEP her version of I Can't Stand The Rain though.

"I Can't Stand The Rain" is FABULOUS. You HUSH YOUR MOUTH

It was between "Typical Male", "River Deep...", "Proud Mary" and my eventual pick, "Private Dancer"

    I thought I was alone!

Isn't it a bit of an obscure one for her? Was it a big hit? I don't recall.

I only know it from the end credits of the movie. It's gorgeous.

I Don't Wanna Fight was a top ten hit in the UK and the US. I think it was her last US top ten. Definitely one of her biggest worldwide hits, largely through being the theme tune to the 'What's Love Got To Do With It?' movie.
