First Semi on now. Turns out TV5 Monde is in my Sky Package. Channel 796 if anyone else is interested.

Qualifiers from the first semi final...

Lisandro won the jury vote and is considered to be the frontrunner to take the whole thing apparently.

I liked Emmy's song but her stage presence was a bit weak. Louka was also crap and was lucky to make it through.

Malo' is the kind of thing people love or hate, personally it was fucking AWFUL.

The jury for the final is 10 international members so anything can happen.

Actually the BIG fave is in semi 2 - Nassi. But Madame Monsieur are also thought of and a Jane Constance, a blind girl who won The Voice Kids will be in with a shout too, I think.

Eva sounds like another top ten for me. I'm sure the juries would appreciate it.

That Eva song is great and a surefire top 10. Get that placing France.

2.5million viewers and a 12% audience share for this, making it the third most-watched show of the evening. I believe they were hoping for a little higher, but that's not a disastrous start by any means.

The songs appear to be impacting French iTunes quite nicely too.

    #5 Lisandro Cuxi
    #7 Emmy Liyana
    #12 Malo'
    #56 Louka

So this is the HOT FAVE from semi final 2. And it's rather special...

That's really nice, if a little riskier than Eva. I'd be happy with either for France...

Mercy is lovely, maybe more for listening than a performance piece. I think Eva is good too, and he seems a good performer despite that ridiculous note (worth it for the man in the audience going into a frenzy). The impassioned 'she's just a single mother' comes across a little awkwardly though.

I like the song Eva but that single mother lyric is so cringeworthy. Mercy also has interesting lyrics but it’s in French so most people won’t realise. It’s def one of the two though.

That’s if Mercy even makes the final that is!

Eva is a safe lower-end top ten for France I think. Nobody's going to care about the dodgy lyric.

Mercy is riskier in that I could just as easily see it totally bombing as I could it being a top 3 contender. The staging would really need to communicate the message of the lyrics, especially if they keep it 100% French.

Lovely message, but I can't see it troubling the top 10 if selected.

I like June The Girl too from the second semi.

Love Mercy but not sure how it would translate to a massive arena.

It might be the case that he's not great live, but judging by the four qualifiers from last week, that doesn't seem to be a massive issue.

So Nassi DID qualify and his performance was a fucking TRAINWRECK. :D

The other three were the right qualifiers though, even that Ed Sheeran-lite one was passable.

Madame Monsieur are already streets ahead of anyone else on iTunes, so it looks like a straight fight between them and Lisandro.

    iTunes effect:

    #2 Mercy
    #17 Lisboa Jerusalem
    #18 Ailleurs
    #65 Nassi

Eva is down to #83 now, but I gather that like most countries, the French iTunes chart is fairly erratic due to low sales.

I think Eva's peak was #5, but there's not much in it. The televote points will be done as a percantage like in MF, so I think that gives more power to the international juries, who I think could be more swayed by Eva. The final will be exciting though!

A year ago he said he was going to kill Conchita, why is (s)he suddenly back in a few preselections?

    That was cool.

Shame about the Danish style backing vocals - no idea what that would sound like live.

I have this on and they're all male or male/female. Does kala have any chance to like the winner?

I liked that one until he started banging on about single mothers. Some songs are better not being in English.
