Sadly, not being American, I shall have to go the NATION to retrieve the best of this shit but lets start with the obvious

Oh SINthyia. I think this is the carbon clone of first hit "Change on Me"

Sadly not a paranoid song about the object of her affection's sexual orientation, lyrically it could have been stretched further, but it's still pretty feisty and huge all the same. Bimbo Jones tarted it up for the treadmill in 2005-ish, the gutter years of dance music one might argue (although Madge got her Nokia on and it was all systems go again).

    HOBAG video of LIFE :disco:

I was informed by the US expert poster on this that their ENTIRE works are great

And this is the blonde piece who also did the original "Waiting for Tonight"

SADLY it's all shitty of the time house mixes but, YES, Rebekah Ryan and Celine did it

Loomer, pack this one full please as I've always wanted to get into this genre. Lil' Suzy is a name I know of, but the one I favour (When I Fall In Love) is a frantic blitz of pumping euro-pop rather than freestyle.

OMG how could I omit THAT. Helium non Scandi goddess. The SOLE problem is they have to speed her up to Kristin Chenoweth on helium on C&C mix which is LIFE

I meant to do this for ages and am VERY annoyed my freestyle thread (i.e. asking for songs other than SEQUAL) was wiped ALONG with the DISCO thread circa Hard Candy. UGH!

Well I managed to find some

Is this the original freestyle record?

Or maybe it could be this, all the elements were present here

    On a similar tip

And sure enough a clip of it was posted by freestylemusicvideos.com, it's difficult to say as these records were more electro than freestyle, but the two genres are so similar and electro is basically early freestyle.

Confusingly, there's a LIZ Torres as well who is more house. I think Mariah did that Weakness of the Body demo for Judy Torres.

Also cited were Lost in Emotion by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, The Jets - Crush on You, Nu Shooz - Point of No Return and Company B - Fascinated but we know those

Freestyle is making a bit of a comeback

I'm going to put spoiler tags on all these as the thread is taking ages to load?

You put your TIGHT PANTS ON and PRETEND you have SOME POWER
You ENDLESSLY DANCE through the night, BOUND UP OH SO TIGHT
I know just WHAT YOU LIKE

The whole of the album is rather good, more of the same really, with the exception of one ballad (Small Rewards) which is rather Jim Steinman influenced, with some electronic sound effects bunged in for good measure.

I have just discovered this DELIGHT from Sweet Sensation, a cover of a Diana Ross and The Supremes song about being a BASTARD.

Everything about this is just :disco:

From the crazy dancing, high waisted jeans, big hair, amazing synths, cheesy guitar solo...

I wonder why Freestyle never really caught on in the UK, it was HUGE in the US in the mid-late 80s with gays and Latinas alike...

You know this girl group is unknown in the UK when Kala tells you he doesn't know them, except for their cover of Wishing on a star. But they had quite a few moderate hits in USA, and I can't get enough of these freestyle classics. :disco:
