I listened to it for the first time in full, in one go, in ages. It really is shockingly consistent and very listenable, it had a massive campaign behind it too, like six singles I think.

    What You Waiting For?
    Rich Girl
    Hollaback Girl
    Cool
    Bubble Pop Electric
    Luxurious
    Harajuku Girls
    Crash
    The Real Thing
    Serious
    Danger Zone
    Long Way to Go

The second album had some excellent moments too but suffered from a fair bit of unlistenable rot too, that dreadful lead single for starters. "Early Winter" and "4 in the Morning" are both in my solo Gwen top five though.

In retrospect, it was a big bag of novelty shit (the singles) with the odd hidden gem tucked away. An album I like less and less as time goes by.

The album has some PRETTY GOOD STUFF ON IT even though I'm not sure it'll age well.

Problem is, I think she's quite the TWAT (who happens to write some good songs).

I have definitely grown off it a bit with time, but only from a 9 down to a solid 8.

EDIT: I mistakenly forgot how much I hate Hollaback Girl, so I have edited it DOWN.

09 What You Waiting For? - thank god for autotune
    00 Rich Girl - Disgusting
-1 Hollaback Girl - Biggest POS of the decade perhaps. Utterly hateful
07 Cool - Get over the 80s you sad old cunt
05 Bubble Pop Electric - OutKast wannabe
00 Luxurious - Biggie does it better. Always. Laughable
00 Harajuku Girls - Insulting, cultural tourism by a very CLUELESS popstar used as a means to an end of promoting brand Stefani
    04 Crash
03 The Real Thing - POOR Bizarre Love Triangle wannabe. Thank god New Order turned this Yank cunt down.
    ?? Serious
?? Danger Zone - Oh dear evoking Kenny Loggins?!!! :|

Despite half of the album being UTTER TOSH, it still deserves a 10 for The Real Thing and Danger Zone.

It was the singles I had real beef with.

I think the singles were fine. Maybe not everyone's GUSTO but they were good for what they were. It all went downhill with album two which only has Early Winter and Four In The Morning to save it from a STONE COLD ZERO.

Oh I forgot how much I loved "What You Waiting for", it's floppage (ie. lack of overplay) has done it well in the years since.

I really love this album. She was the first contemporary pop singer to really have vision and make pop music interesting. I know that she basically exploited the japanese girls she hired and is guilty of cultural appropriation/tourism, but there was an element of artistry to it, real or not.

Very well produced album, surprisingly there's some good vocals on it too. The singles where questionable, why did they release Luxurious and Crash? there were much better songs on the album. I'm sad they didn't tour worldwide with this album, it felt like they released The Sweet Escape with the left over tracks just to tour again.

Didn't you start the 'HELP ME END GWEN STEFANI GROUP' of facebook?

I have to say, it was the right movement in 2006/2007. It still is if her next album is as horrible as the last one.

Hate it, how she went from No Doubt where I kinda liked her to the abomination that she is these days is beyond me.

Is there no thread for This Is What The Truth Feels Like? I've listened to it a few times in the last few weeks and I really like it. I kind of forget the songs but when I hear them I really enjoy them.

Half hella good, half hella shite. The good stuff came like a thunderbolt, the rest just stank the place out.

I haven't been brave enough for the Christmas album yet, which is a shame as she certainly can pull off beautiful, twinkly ballads.
