I was looking at their UK chart stats and was surprised that The Name Of The Game is one of their nine #1s. By no means anywhere as well known than most of their non #1s.

It's one of my favourites, and I distinctly remember the video of it at #1 (for 4 weeks) on TOTP as a child. But it was bigger by far in the UK than anywhere else - I think all of their other UK #1 singles were also #1 in multiple other countries (plus some that missed #1 in the UK), but TNOTG didn't top the chart anywhere else. Although it did reach #12 in the US, and so is one of their biggest hits there - but then it does arguably have a more American sound.

I'm not sure where there was a brief Under Attack discussion, but I have now decided they only released it because of the fancy use of the vocoder.

I guess in terms of wanting to release a single, what other choice did they have at that time? They had committed to it by putting it on The Singles: The First Ten Years, and obviously wanted to flog more copies of the album.

I suppose the bigger question is whether of the six tracks they recorded for the planned follow up to The Visitors, they chose the right tracks to be released as singles and b-sides:

    The Day Before You Came
    Under Attack
    Cassandra (b side of TDBYK)
You Owe Me One (b side of UA)
I Am The City (unreleased until 1993)
    Just Like That (pfffrt)

I used to have a Brotherhood Of Man album that I'm sure had 50% the same tracklist as that one.

What would the most recently mastered version of More ABBA Gold be in terms of release date? I’m playing my original in prep for Bjorn Again but it seems terribly faint.

It was re-released more recently, but I don't think it has been remastered since 1999.

Yeah there seems to be a stack of ABBA golds but I don’t want to end up with the same quality as I have.
