I've done extra days alone when I've been meeting up with friends for holidays in different places. And when I volunteered in Cambodia I'd do a bit of travelling before and after, with a stay at a gay hotel in Phnom Penh by myself. And I did a weekend in Verona. The Asian stuff was much easier just because of hostel culture.

I do get a bit self conscious about eating dinner alone, and it can get boring for me after a while. But if you enjoy it then go.

I've done a few weekends away to places abroad solo and the last 2 times I met up with fellow solo flyers (both from Manchester funnily enough). Not sure I'd do longer, but it wouldn't faze me. Going to a local bar on my own though, absolutely not :)

It depends on the concert. Standing, no. Sitting, yes.

I go away on my own once a year. I've done Lisbon, Madrid and Copenhagen so far, and I would have been going to Oslo this year but for the Covids so I'm settling for YORK instead.

I'd recommend it to anyone; it's so liberating and worry-free.

And I love doing stuff alone if it leads to situation when making friends is easy, e.g. volunteering, and I was gonna do the Camino alone this year. It's just harder elsewhere, when people don't have to spend time with you, because I get nervous about making the first move in case I get rejected.

I love this little short from Paris je T’aime about solo travel.

OMGGGGGGG! THIS IS SO ME! I can imagine myself saying every word in this at the same standard of French (apart from the part about a boyfriend called Dave. Mine was called Scott and he was a cunt.)

I went to Vegas for a week on my own. Apart from one rather EVENTFUL evening it was great.

I remember that part affecting me a bit when I watched it. It's proper sweet.

I've done the bulk of my Japan travels alone and I've loved it. Japan is just somehow so suited to solitude

if I were going to a more sprawling place, say, New York or Berlin I'd definitely prefer to go with someone

a mood not only reserved for travelling but a general state of mind for melancholic, misanthropic misers like myself :disco:

My brother went to both of those alone. He said New York was a lot more suited to solo travel than Berlin was.

I've only been to one gig alone. I stupidly got there early so had to stand around like a lemon for an hour which felt excruciating. But when the main act started I really didn't think about it at all.

I don't think I'd do that again, but I go to the theatre/cinema alone sometimes.

Same. I went to a Tori gig in 2007 with friends the first night and alone the second. It was seated so I just played on my phone until it started, although I have a feeling I didn't actually have signal.

The first night, my friend had a panic attack about missing her train and made me leave with her before the encore of Precious Things. The second night on my own, I stayed for the whole thing so it was automatically MUCH better

Oh I do (did) gigs on my own all the time. If it’s that or miss out, then no-brainer. Definitely agree standing ones are more awkward though.
