This has been rumoured for a while and now appears to be confirmed.

The NQ last year probably didn't help matters, but I get the impression this is largely a political decision, what with Orban stirring up homophobic, xenophobic nationalism to score at the polls. In which case, don't expect to see them back any time soon.

Remember them this way I guess. It was slim fucking pickings afterwards...

They had their moments, but they had a tendency to qualify with some right dreary shite.

    Post-comeback rate

11 What About My Dreams? :disco:
    06 Sound of Our Hearts
    06 Kedvesem
    07 Running
00 Wars for Nothing - DREADFUL dreary bollocks and one of my all-time Eurovision hate songs.
02 Pioneer - Yes he was hot but that's literally all this had to recommend it
    08 Origo
    05 Vizlat Nyar
06 Ez am apam - Liked it at the time, instantly forgot it once it NQ'd.

Oh wow how did I forget Sound of our Hearts?! Early-teens Hungary was great, then it turned awful.

It's a shame to see a country withdraw but they're probably one of my least favourite countries at Eurovision, at least recently. What About My Dreams? is probably in my top 10 of all time, so there's at least that. Oh well...

Ahh, I mean I know their recent entries weren't to everyone's tastes but I was selfishly was hoping this would be the year of the return of Wolf Kati. :(

Well I’d like everyone to be in, but Hungary is the one I’m least bothered about losing, with their potent combination of mostly being shitty and undeserved qualification.

Kati wasn’t enough to balance the books, and even HER perf wasn’t all that

As much as on the whole I'd prefer everyone back in, I'll take the Hungary/Bulgaria trade off.

Now who can we boot off to get Monaco back?

Bulgaria back is a bit of a surprise as BNT are absolutely skint, but apparently they have a sponsor who is paying for the whole thing. So they're the new San Marino basically.

Let's hope they've learned to be a bit more humble after 2018 which was one of the most unlikeable performances and groups ever to grace the Eurovision stage. From the pretentious 'collective' nonsense to the audacity of having the female singer mime her vocals to someone off stage, the desperation was seeping through them. I'm not holding my breath though!

Despite being out, Hungary still ran the show that usually operates as their national final (A Dal).

    This won

I quite like it. Not that it would have upped the banger quotient.
