How the hell this finished in 13th place is beyond me, especially when you see what finished above it. In a word, gorgeous.

I'm with you on this one. It has a Bjorn and Benny quality about it, like a longlost number from CHESS. Maybe if she had worn a pair of golden shoes...

Seriously, this is what I expected ALW to come up with for the UK this year, which is why I find IT'S MY TIME to be rather pallid and "by the numbers".

It's beautiful, I really like it. And 1984 was such a brilliant year, except for the winner though.

I remember you starting the same poll some years ago, and I didn't think so favourably of it back then. However, it has grown in my estimation ever since, possibly fuelled by its inclusion on the 1981-2005 Eurovision DVD. I blame the saccharine cover version by former Flemish schlager-for-the-elderly queen Dana Winner, which I first got to know the song from.

To Dana's credit though, she also familiarised me with Cecilia Vennersten's "Det vackraste". She (or at least someone in her entourage) seems to be quite the Eurovision buff!

Oooh that's lovely that is. I definitely hear the ABBA/Elaine Paige connection.

It's stunning. A real grower. I can see why it made the Congratulations CD.

She's like the Dutch, white, eighties version of Jade Ewan. But better.

God, imagine how much worse it would have done if she'd used the same make up as her national final performance:

Does the Netherlands have a nice national anthem? If not, you should change it for Ik hou van jou

There's a Cilla Black cover version:

    <a href='http://www.mediafire.com/?lz2h5xmbfnt'>http://www.mediafire.com/?lz2h5xmbfnt</a>

It's called "A Dream Called True".

Maybe the juries were blinded by Herreys' golden boots?

I wouldn't go that far. For me that's Hemel en Aarde.

I don't get the Hemel en aarde fuss. It's a Lighthouse Family song with an orchestra.

Vrede however is a proper stonker.
