So on her instagram it looks like she has re-recorded the first album
From her latest tweet it seems like she’s done the second as well.
Yay! Clever way to get her music back on various platforms after her old label took it all down.
She’s done Disaster and Demonstrate as well. Clever girl.
Disaster is truly an 11/10 moment.
On the basis that Too Little, Too Late could never be anything less than a 13/10
Paper Airplanes and Limbo too please JoJo
Where are the ALBUMS JOANNA
On Spotify now as well
Listening to The High Road now
I really like her new vocal on Too Little Too Late
I'm very excited to listen to this today - The High Road was such a superior 00s pop/R&B record, I never thought I'd get to hear it again on streaming
now if she could throw noted classic-that-never-was The Other Chick on there too that would be MOST GENEROUS
I listened to Baby It's You the other week,
I've no idea why.
Whilst this is a very nice idea and I fully appreciate that she hasn’t slowed everything down or done it in dreary “grown-up” fashion, her vocals are terribly NASAL throughout.
I don't think she sounds nasal at all. It's hardly a Kylie Ann situation.
Some of the new arrangements are a touch flat, but some songs are improved. Her vocals on the new Leave (Get Out) are fucking fantastic. WHAT A SONG
The High Road really is a timeless album - so good hearing songs like Anything, Like That, Coming For You and How to Touch a Girl (MUCH more digestible now she's not 15) after all this time. The sheer effort that went into this project, we are not worthy. She just confirmed the new album is definitely coming in 2019 too.
Sorry, why exactly has she done this? As far as I can see all the significant stuff was already on Spotify?
I know she’s had record label issues but surely the cost of clearing the Africa sample on Anything again alone would negate any potential profit margins on this?
Because her old record label took down her albums from Spotify/Apple Music and they seemed to have no intention of putting them back up.
I don't think she is doing it for the dollar at all.
But all the big hits seem to be on Spotify in their original form?
Unless the label waited until she went to all this trouble and put them back on - which would be truly epic cuntery. But Too Little Too Late has clocked up over 100million streams so I doubt it.
She did it so her fans can stream the first two albums. Not rocket science.
Yes, they kept her singles on there, but what was a girl to do if they wanted to listen to her back catalogue whilst browsing @Whatevar ’s top 50 countdown of JoJo songs?!
Presumably a RHETORICAL question?
Looking forward to the release of Stacie Orrico: The Symphonic Sessions any day now...
I’d rather that than Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
New song Joanna out tomorrow.
Her voice sounds amazing there. But I’d rather she was releasing a hit.
"39 people are talking about this"
Sadly I doubt she'll ever get one. 'Fuck Apologies' (other than the F Bomb) was pretty on trend, and a banger to boot, but even it could only get some minor play on US pop radio, as did Disaster a few years earlier.
Her hit days are gone but she'll be able to get good enough Spotify numbers to keep going. I feel like there's a lot of goodwill in the industry toward her due to her undeniable talent/charisma and positive attitude.
Anyway this song is just a reintroduction (possibly the intro track from the album) and the single proper will follow. Can we split into a new thread?
Oh so the new song is like an intro to the new album (?)
it has quite a few lines:
“where did your acting career go?”
“nobody likes you in Massachusetts”
Is her streaming pretty good?
The last album actually did ok considering. No legs, but didn't it hit like #6 in the US and actually sell like 25k physical/download copies in it's first week. Nowadays that is actually a very solid actual sales opening for someone who only had two albums 15 years ago.
VIBE is such a BOP.
The last album has 190m streams in total, which would equate to about $2m in revenue back to the label/producers/songwriters etc. I can't imagine it cost anywhere near that much to make.
Last year's reworks of Leave and Too Little Too Late also have 8m and 10m streams respectively which is fantastic.
Oh didn't realise it was so high. Not bad for her at all.
And she does well out of touring
I really like Joanna now, but she's tweeted it won't even be on the album - just something she wanted to say.
The label making that video for a song like this bodes well for how they'll support the album itself, don't we think?
The proper first single is Sabotage ft. CHIKA, out next Friday
CHIKA seems great also
