For now, anyway. She may be out by the October election.

She has the most ridiculous accent.

It's like someone doing a really hammy impression of an Australian.

She lives a few streets away from me in Altona in a pretty shitty house[IMG] :o Apparently she's refusing to move into 'The Lodge' It's all very odd.

Oh and her house is not indicative of all houses where she lives - Mines fab!

That Liberal leader is such an odious cunt - it'll be horrible for Australia if he's PM.

I had noticed this. I suppose Australia is a natural haven for racists who seek a hotter clime.

Looks like it's a draw

Australia joins the UK and Canada in hung parliament land.

Dumping Kevin Rudd was a bad move for Labor then. One of the poorest post-war results for a first term government.

Imagine what the result would have been if the Liberal leader had been someone likeable. Australia have dodged a bullet there (I hope).

I wonder if Rudd can male a comeback - he's just retained his Brisbane seat.

Well I suppose it technically does...

In terms of whether the current one is going to resign:

Possibly. But a hung parliament should be such a big deal in Australia? I mean, they are only four seats short of a majority.

And Uncle Kev wasn't getting too popular with his new policy of dumping all his old promises.

    WOO! :disco:

I presume it'll be a fairly weak government, but it's better than the alternative.

Why's Gillard so unpopular in Australia? I don't know enough about her.

She opposes same sex marriage though, doesn't she? So, FUCK HER and her sexism speech.

I'm not sure what the political appeitite towards same sex marriage is like in Australia though. It seems very strange that she's openly atheist, unmarried, pro-abortion rights and anti-Royalist and yet isn't pro-Gay Marriage.

Basically, it's commonly seen that she's broken a load of promises. The biggest one being bringing in the carbon tax. Now that she's done that, the whole 'get rid of bully Kevin Rudd' scenario has changed into a 'stab nice old Uncle Kev in the back'. It's amazing how important trust is.

And she's personally against gay marriage but allows Labor a conscience vote. She may not ACTUALLY be against it though - it's just that the Labor government here is basically a working class government, i.e. 'family values', etc. It's strange and a bit sad that the third party in Australia is essentially the progressive party.

Coalition: Very conservative values, conservative economics.
Labor: Quite conservative values, socialist(ish) economics.
    Greens: Liberal values, socialist economics.

Unfortunately it's highly likely that the Coalition will win. So our next Prime Minister will be one that says women should stay at home, openly stands next to placards with 'burn the witch' written on them (i.e. Julia Gillard) and won't give a conscience vote on gay marriage when his own sister is an (open) lesbian. Bleurgh.

I'm so glad I still vote in the NZ elections. There isn't a single thing about Australian politics that has impressed me as far as the two 'main' parties go. Plus their constant bitching and moaning makes them look so unbelievably incompetent. It's more about who can embarrass/undermine the other leader the most rather than who actually DOES anything.

Now all I need to do is post a photo of myself, then talk about how much of a slut I am and my work here is done. Unfortunately (for you) it's nearly 11pm and I need sleep.

Gillard's 15 minute PUT DOWN of the odious liberal leader remains one of the most FANTASTIC MOMENTS of politics in 2012.

Actually, as fabulous as it is in isolation, in context she loses a few :disco: points. It would have been better if she had more strongly condemned the harassment of a gay man in the text messages.
