This collaboration still INTRIGUES ME. It was a huge hit on both sides of the Atlantic even making #1 here but nowadays it seems relatively forgotten amongst Beyoncé's canon of hits. It was also not the vocal headache many people had expected/wanted from the meeting of two of pop's biggest names but rather quite a subdued affair if laced with its own sultry charms.

Like much of Bee's output, I only recognise the Freemasons mix

It was a big G-A-Y Late song for my friend and me AT THE TIME

But we were both in our twenties and we now look back and CRINGE

Not only at our Beyonce/Shakira parallels but also because the song is so SHIT in retrospect

And PERSONALLY because I was Shakira and not Beyonce because AT THE TIME I thought Shakira was better. Such a FOOL.

ps vote for the score you'd give your preferred version of the song

For me that's the Freemasons version (naturally) and a 9/10

I may prefer the Freemasons Mix, don't particularly remember. However, the original is SHIT, just a really really joyless song

The production is hideous, they should have used real instruments instead of [IMG]

I like both versions. I don't really understand why people dislike it so much.

I find it quite annoying and expected much better from a duet between the two of them.

I prefer the original, which is a 9/10 and I've never really got the hate for it to be honest.

Original all the way. Fantastic song. Bit of a flop in America wasn't it? #3 but sunk like a brick.

Rubbish but inoffensive. The Freemasons mix is dull too.

The best bit is obviously "Beyoncé, Beyoncé; Shakira, Shakira"

Yes, that's the best bit by virtue of it being the only good bit.

The only tolerable version is the mash-up with Naughty Girl by Mr G.

I think it's one of those songs where the verse is better than the chorus. I love Shakira's bits. Beyonce does sound quite bored though.

It's fine, but it's all a bit eye-roll worthy with its cringe attempt to be 'empowering'.

Beyonce wouldn't even spit in Shakira's direction now.

All of Beyonce's collaborators go down the pan shortly thereafter.

    Alicia - check
    Shakira - check
    Gaga - check
Jay-Z - check, several times over

True. Shakira's SHARP descent from the highs of the She Wolf album to that awful self-titled affair and everything since has been... upsetting.

What's more upsetting was her collaboration with Rihanna. That could've been so fucking iconic. They're a much better pairing than her and Beyonce
