While we're on an Eternal nostalgia trip, can we get some appreciation for poor 'Sacked by fax' Kelle Bryan's one shot of solo glory? I properly love this song, even though it's far, far too big for her voice. Its failure to crack the top ten is one of my biggest pop injustices ever. Am I imagining things or did her cancelled (because of the LUPUS, NOT due to complete lack of interest - it was a clear #1 in the making) second single 'I Wanna Know' inexplicably feature Enrique Iglesias?
Kelle Bryan and Enrique Iglesias, now there's a duet right up there with Matthew Marsden featuring Destiny's Child.

Back when I cared about chart positions I was so disappointed for her that she missed the top 10 with this. She probably was a little consoled when Easther and Vernie charted at #16 the following week with 'What'cha Gonna Do' - at least she beat their peak position. It would have been a little galling for her if they'd landed a big hit without her.
Same. Although I suppose I had been reared on a vocal diet of Easther Bennett until that point, so these lupus-tinged chords were never really going to do it for me. I still like the song though. Cheap late 90s sunny pop at its best.
I *so* wanted her to do well when this was released and was willing her to get that top 10, but the song had #14 or so all OVER IT
This thread has been quite enlightening, I had forgotten what this song sounded like but it seems I had forgotten SO much more than that. What is that video about? She's sat at a dinner table for the entire duration until she decides to stand on it at the end. Who are those people and what the hell has it got to do with the song? They're just sat there bobbing along to Kelle's piss-poor vocals, not really acknowledging who she is, as I suspect no one has before or since. I'd forgotten just how completely ODD it is. Also I knew her voice was weak but fuck me that is terrible. I suspect even LOUISE spat in her face a few times for that. It's definitely too big for her but it doesn't matter, she doesn't even sing the chorus at all apparently and just lets the gospel choir do it. All in all quite wonderful/ridiculous and looking at it I'm wondering how it even achieved the dizzy heights of #13 when before I entered this thread I remembered it as a slight injustice. And yet there's MORE surprises...I always thought the follow-up was a dreary pile of nothingness, in fact I seem to recall it as literally one of the worst NON-SONGS I had ever heard in my life and that the Lupus had saved us all. And it's still utter shit BUT it sounds better these days and an improvement on Higher Than Heaven. Maybe it just sounds less dated. And the video is nicer with an inexplicably bigger budget although it may well have been shot in Margate for all I know. Anyway it's weird because it's vaguely enjoyable even though it's coma-inducing in ways. AND it's nice to be reminded that Kelle did the whole summer bike ride jaunt with random extras attempting to stay awake at the handlebars way before tragic old Corinne Bailey Rae ever did. Anyway I won't listen to either song ever again but god bless her shitness.
Oh yes, I do remember rubbish old Bardot covering this. HOLLYWOOD WHORE Sophie Monk's claim to fame IS THIS.
Not entirely sure what the Alan Rickman connection is but WHATEVER... <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0ygFndSq7yg?fs=1&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0ygFndSq7yg?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Kelle Bryan - the power to live on in far off continents AND bring out random posters (and make strange videos)
Clearly her harrowing EPK paid off:
That's a scene from the Tina Turner biopic What's Love Got To Do With It. Doesn't quite work with Kellé's flat delivery in a Lewisham accent and inability to say "pistol-whip".
Kéllé (don't forget the accents) truly is a REVELATION on the SCREEN. Why she's never made it as an actress I have no idea. Wasted talant.
Higher Than Heaven remains fab. Kelle must've borrowed Louise's backing singer army to help her on this.
A quick search for the EPK video brought this up - Kelle has done a TED talk (well TEDx but same thing, sort of)
I didn't know she was on ITV's Flockstars, The first (and last) celebrity sheep herding contest. She came 5th
I will forget I ever saw that link, but sounds like no love lost with Eternal. A nice bit of humble bragging too, "I was just the pretty one"
Now Sarah Whatmore's album has been released, this now is the HOLY GRAIL of unreleased flop female albums. COME ON KÉLLÉ - leak it!!
The BeBe Winans duet That's Love was quite enjoyable but the rest is midtempo rnb jams I'm sorry to say apart from the lead single and the would be follow up. Breathy vocals and the backing singers bill would've mounted up over the course of the album. Don't fret too much about it not coming out. I'd wanted pure soul pop from our Kel. It sounded like something she'd hoped the Bennetts would like to my ears.
