SING IT, RB. I certainly find it enjoyable. I've been LOVING and LIVING it during my commute today. There are clear highlights though... "Bloody Mary", "Electric Chapel", "Marry The Night" and "The Edge of Glory" (I've grown a little bored of EOG recently, but the "WITH YOU, WITH YOU, WITH YOU, WITH YOU" bit near the end gets me every time.)

I'd say 75% of what as wrong with the BTW era was nothing to do with the music. The album is pretty great, but she became a monumental pain in the arse with it and personally I didn't like to see her cease to be the chart force she had been. This consequently meant I stopped hearing her songs when I was out clubbing as well which made me wish she'd just start bringing the HITZ again. I actually think that "Applause" is actually a pretty good compromise between the vacuous but accessible themes of the first album and her increased creative direction... the problem is that the public have moved onto Jessie J and other people that remind us that we could do A LOT WORSE than Gaga.

I hope artpop can scale the same heights of unanimous joy as seen in this topic.

I think the main problem with the album was actually the opposite. With the exception of EOG, which most people praise, there are no clear highlights. Born This Way, You And I and Judas are strong examples of songs that are loved by many and equally detested by others. And I don't remember any of the album tracks reuniting a stronger consensus. It clearly lacked obvious hits like Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance and Telephone

Your parents were probably saying the same about Madonna 30 years ago.
Except she didn't have a degree (or a voice). :)

After two long and painful years, I'm officially declaring this hot mess of an album a BIG OLE HIT

It's desperate, grasping, ill-conceived and malformed and entirely creaks under the burden of its pretensions, but I love that someone is around in the pop game who gives a shit as much as she does.

    180DEGREESTIAN, everyone. :D

Mind, there is a handful of corkers on the album - but a handful within 18 songs is a strikerate that makes every Qualitycontroltina Aguilera cackle.

I JUST NOTICED she purposely made "bad kid" sound like FAGGOT! :o especially in the end, where she's all like, "a FAGGOT, baabyyyy!" :disco: was this common knowledge?

I miss this era. :( Still a timeless record.

It was definitely more cohesive than ARTPOP (which would still make an outstanding 8- or 9-track EP nonetheless!)

I count 7 10s. The rest I can't remember right now. It's the Black Friday of pop albums, I took what I needed and got the hell out of there before being killed.
