This is IT? It's not even rock, it's NOTHING :D it just dragged for way too long while I waited for something exciting to HAPPEN.

6/10 was definitely WAY TOO GENEROUS

I'll go along with this. I kind of wanted her to shut up a bit so I could hear the song around her a bit more.

It is shockingly awful. If this is the best of the bunch then it really is curtains for her as a relevant pop star. Beyonce, Rihanna and Katy have nothing to worry about. That key change in particular is painful. The only good thing about it are those few bars right at the start before she starts wailing.

Something reminds me of the end of its chorus and/or the strings. It might just be the same chord sequence.

As soon as someone said Papa Don't Preach I now can't unhear it.

I can sort of see it if you're looking for a Madonna song to compare it to, but not really.

A couple of people here did!

And for the record I said it in JEST. There's no way I'd condone that kinda behaviour. Not even from Gags.

Somewhere in Hollywood, in a pair of cut-off shorts that'd make Jessica Simpson turn up her nose, Gaga has sensed people on the internet think it sounds like a Madonna track and she's having PTSD flashbacks.

Not really seeing the Papa Don't Preach comparisons. Not enough for it to be REDUCTIVE anyway. But hopefully enough for Madonna to LOOK IT UP :disco:

It sounds more radio friendly (I'm not saying better) to me than Applause as well.

How much radio will want to play it is of course another matter.

I don't think it will get hammered after the initial polite few spins from Radio 1 this morning.

There is something slightly Eighties Marge about it. It's catchy but her vocals are a bit unbearable, she keeps drifting into that weird German David Bowie LILT. I hope she rips off Into the Groove next.

Well I love the "it wasn't LAAAARRRRRRVE" bits, but it all seems to build up to NOTHING. I thought that was the pre-chorus, but apparently NOT. Like has already been said it needs room to breathe, I can i see it translating well into an epic 7 minute disco remix though

The constant shouting at the end and the rhyming of ILLUSION with CONFUSION annoy me but that hasn't stopped me from playing it about ten times already this morning :D

It's pretty much OVER after a minute isn't it, followed by a further 2 minutes of WARBLING. For such a short song it should really leave you wanting more, rather than getting tiresome even before the 2 minute mark!

Presumably that's why the key change was thrown into the mix.

I'm all for relentless pop music when done well, but this would benefit from her easing up a bit.

    Oh this is WOEFUL :D

I was genuinely expecting a turnaround moment for her but it's absolutely unbearable. I get the whole 'tortured soul/heartbreak' thing but where's the epic middle 8 section? And that key change? It's horrible.

Not great. The production is GARBLED as fuck and it doesn't really go anywhere. Too many cooks! Points for delivery.

Seriously so it took her three years and 15 known producers to come up with a SINGLE MINUTE of average music? :eyes:

I find it very straightforward and it feels very short. And for having a rock sound (which I absolutely detest) it's rather okay.

    I don't love it, I don't particularily like it either, but I don't hate it. It's boring.

It's like a 'leaked song' where 45 seconds is looped over and over. Disappointing but will see once I have vodka'd.
