"White Dress" is scheduled for release on February 26th. Apparently it is the saddest song ever written by Lana Del Rey, touches upon her "old Lizzy Grant days" and she sings in the same vocal register as "Stargirl"

#61 on Spotify global today with around 1.4m streams. 6m in five days, I think it's doing pretty well.

Let Me Love You Like An Insta Baddie has just 18m after 3 months so this is looking good.

    BEIGE? Really LANA?

I'll be skipping on this edition as I've pre-ordered the lovely red vinyl with alternate cover from HMV.

I don't know what a typical second week drop off looks like for an a, but I think this is par for the course for her since 2013. "Doin' Time" was of course the exception because it gained genuine traction at radio/with the GP.

In other news, "Chemtrails..." debuts at #94 in Switzerland :eyes:

Yes - bring us "WHITE DRESS" !

Yes, I'm confused too - I'm imagining having to send Spotify a POSTAL ORDER in the post and they send you out the disc.

I think it literally just means that if you have 'liked' her artist page on Spotify (+/- if you're a paid SPotify member) then you get the email I got (where you get the link for the online order).

Four stars for the album in Mojo. More straightforward and autobiographical than NFR, folkier and some country twangs.

    Some notes from the interview:
    • In "Dance Til We Die" she sings "I've been covering Joni and dancing with Joan"
    • "Not All Who Wanders Are Lost" has a high thrill and reminds Lana of "Cinderella in the movie, where she's holding the blue bird"
    • "Wild At Heart" has a similar theme about being untameable as the title track has
    • "Breaking Up Slowly" is about the relationship of Tammy Wynette and George Jones and the "Breaking up slowly is a hard thing to do"-line was made up during a conversation Nikki and Lana had in a hotel room.
    • Nikki and Lana wrote 4 more songs together
    • She talks about a cover album full of country songs (she namedrops Bobby Gentry, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and Wynette, although it's not said whether she actually covered them) and one with folk songs
    • "Dark But Just A Game" is sonically compared to Portishead and Ricky Nelson's"Garden Party". Lyrically, it is supposed to be similar to Allen Ginsberg's poem "Howl".
Apart from that, it seems to be inspired by an disillusioning incident at a party she attended with Jack, hosted by Madonna and U2's manager Guy Oseray, where she contemplated about how it's best not to meet your idols and how musicians change in strange ways. The title originates from a conversation between her and Jack.
Jack also describes this song as "so LDR", being about "fly down the rabbit hole and smile in the same breath"
    • On "White Dress" she sings in a rapt, innocent whisper
The song is about being 19, working as a waitress, listening to the White Stripes and Kings Of Leon. Lana describes it as being close to unedited journaling, not being "too afraid about being kind of stupid".
She also says that she's not sounding great during the chorus - it's described as sounding awestruck, trembling, "the voice of someone on the bring of something" and very fitting to the thematic of the song
We also get some lyrics: "Look how I do this, look how I've got this"

@Pipo why didn't you tell me Lana's new BF was a snack? Apparently they are GALAVANTING in Alaska right now. Problematic traveling-during-a-pandemic queen.
