Yeah it's fantastic for them. They are actually ahead of Ed on Apple music, and only 6 places behind on Spotify. So even if they didn't have the sales boost it would have been a tight race for him to pull back anyway.
Would love the gals to get another number one, showing their strength as a band ten years on, even as they are forced to restart without Jesy.
Now 5,200 ahead with a day to go. Looks like it is in the bag, considering Ed is on less than 20k I can't see him making up over 5k within one day.
Ed's streams haven't really taken off to the extent you'd expect of him either - though it's possible that the effect of 2020 year-end playlists is still depressing him. He's at 9 with 180,000, Little Mix are at 12 with 156,000. I'd say they're safe.
I harbour a wee fantasy that Sheeran might do a Dido. Ubiquitous for a couple of albums and then just fizzles.
I genuinely wonder if the charts will be more diverse now that hardly anybody works in an office anymore and the default Spotify playlist won’t just be the most wallpapery background music imaginable.
I am pleased. Whilst they are still making good songs like this I hope they stick around for a good while yet.
Yes, I hope they make it work without Jesy as well. Nice to see the album golding up really well too. I know there were reasons why LM5 underperformed after Get Weird, but even so it could have been very tricky for them to bounce back from.
This is lovely news! And a nice way for Jesy to end her time with the band as well. also great that it is a good song too, and not some fan only single
They also just posted this. As far as I know their first "official" post as a three. And they look great! This is all slightly reminiscent of when Eternal started getting no. 1's after Louise jumped ship. looking forward to Jesy's "Stretch" in 20 years xx
anyway I really came here to say I think they should have posted a picture of the four of them, considering they all happen to sing the song
I'm getting the failed photo of doom picture for this! But I think it might be my/my cache's (what is this) fault
disagree! Jesy is gone, the song hit #1 now as much out of fan support for their continued existence as a trio as anything else - perfect time to debut the first look at LM 2.0
It’s like when Atomic Kitten were number 1 with whole again for four weeks, the radio phoned each of the members up to speak to them every week
