If Hazel Grove goes down, Cheadle's a no hope.
He's recovering from throat cancer!
I wonder if Paddy Ashdown really will eat his hat.
Well, they're fucking us over for the SECOND time.
Farage losing would be another consolation for a Lib Dem collapse.
I don't remember the BBC coverage ever being so FUCKING SHIT
Jim Mcdonald appears to have the shakes again
That TUSC man in Sunderland is fucking ridiculous with his announcement selfies. And the poor Lib Dem looks like he's about to keel over.
IKR and the iively TUSC man
The Lib Dems only getting hundreds of votes per constituency is INSANE
This is horrible. Huge gains for UKIP in polls (I think they're going to have lots of 2nd place finishes - making them a genuine force next time)... Horrible losses for Liberal Democrats - yes some people don't like the fact they 'made their bed' as your put it, but they made the last government a moderate government that would have been worse without them... Their policies are still the ones that I want the country to be governed by the most and so I still support them as a party. It's such a shame that people are revenge voting against them. Their politics have remained the same in their manifesto.
Sheena has nailed it of course. Lib dems did well last time to stop the Tories and now people are refusing to vote them so the swings are going to the Tories. Basically this result is what 'should' have happened in 2010 without the tactical voting.
I really fucking HATE FPTP voting. It would be the thing id most like to see change in my lifetime.
I was watching ITV and it seemed much more competent. But they keep putting spoilers onscreen by announcing the result before the numbers have been read out.
I think Lib Dems are going to need some party funding soon to pay for these deposits.
Farage coming third would be quiet consolation.
Tories eating up Lib Dems to gain overall could be the story of that exit poll.
Totally agree, cwoj. The scary thing is that this really does mark the maturation of UKIP.
It's depressing. So depressing
The UKIP gain are horrible. Least we not forget though they were ALWAYS going to happen. They were polling on par with Greens last time.
I think the UKIP is interesting- they've done very well, yes, but they've not made, if exit polls are to be believed, any serious gains in terms of seats and it's more about how the next 5 years pan out that will determine their future...
They haven't had less than 7000 votes in a constituency yet... How can 8 times more people support those horrible people than the Lib Dems?
They're not going to get many seats - but if they are in a serious position where thousands of votes are being given to them all around, that they become a genuine political force that people feel are worth voting for (that they won't be 'wasting' their vote)... That is terrifying.
The Lib Dems used to be the go to party for the protest vote who didn't want Labour or the Tories.
UKIP have taken that position.
This does feel like an inbetween election.
Maybe, maybe not. There may be a natural glass ceiling for them due to strength of ill-feeling.
Well, I'm not sorry about the Lib Dem collapse. They made their bed, so they should lie on it. Sometimes you need to make a sacrifice to teach others a lesson. This was one of those times.
UKIP have a natural peak.
Except it depends. I, for example, knew that polls showed they didn't stand a chance where I live and so I voted with my heart. The UKIP vote definitely would have had a higher turnout in this election than those who would want to vote against them…
Yes, they've done very well and yes, they're a political force, absolutely, but it's not "terrifying" and it's not that worrying at all yet. Note- YET. The next general election will be where it becomes interesting...
UKIP are obviously going to make comparatively massive gains but I think these early announcements are misleading. We're talking about the North East...
I also think they're going to be a one election wonder.
Least we not forget those three solid results are from ONE NORTHERN CITY.
Lib Dem results are awful but not shocking.
Labour's response is ridiculous. Just shut up Ed Balls.
I think we all know who the real winner is: QUEEN NICOLA reigns supreme
But with a chance of NO INFLUENCE WHATSOEVER.
Ed Balls is as disastrous as Milliband. That interview was an utter embarrassment.
Do opposition parties formally agree confidence and supply deals?
Ugh they're saying that Chester is going to be stuck with OLD BLOATER as its MP
I guess we have got to face it, elections in the UK are like celebrity popularity contest. Few people give a fuck about Miliband beyond the way he eats a bacon sandwich.
English Tory government + SNP Scotland surely means independence. I loathe that cunt for not ruling out another referendum soon. That last one was a nightmare, so stressful.. I don't wanna go through that again!
I was a true visionary nominating her for QoL of the Year 2014 really, let's face it
Natalie Bennett in HD is HORRIBLE.
It's an interesting point. I know this is another "Sheena's and no one else's experience" from today but I had a chat with someone at work who said she was not voting Labour because of Miliband and when I questioned why, she had absolutely nothing to say other than "Oh, I don't like him", despite me pushing and pushing her. It's ridiculous!
Natalie looks like
