I don't think I can face staying up to watch it. But I don't want to go to bed and wake up and hear the news either. I'm not really feeling suicidal, but I wonder if it's the only viable option.

There are so many factors to explain the results tonight. It's a Politics academics WET DREAM.

There are 60 million people. Surely it would be possible for Labour to find someone with both a good personality and good policies.

If we get another Tory-Lib coalition I wonder if the Lib Dems will push for another AV referendum. Surely public opinion must be more positive after this SHAMBLES.

The public don't deserve AV. They had their chance.

I'm still laughing at the Lib Dem numbers. Sorry but it's too much :D

Is there any schedule of when the results are likely to come in?

I was thinking that too particularly with the Scottish elections next year. I was staunchly in the No camp last time however even I'd be tempted by independence given the prospect of Cameron and Osbourne at the helm for another five years.

I must admit UKIP have done better than I expected. Maybe I was in denial. I knew they'd do okay but these results are a bit too good for my liking. Ugh. Hopefully it'll all fizzle out by the next general election but I'm not so sure.

    Reasons why Labour haven't won.

    1. The rise of nationalism in Scotland
    2. The rise of nationalism in England
    3. The state of the economy and a lack of trust in him and Ed Balls to do better than Cameron and Osbourne
    4. A sense that while he's very good at the theory, he has no idea on the practicalities of life
    5. By moving to the left, Labour have alienated a lot of people in the centre, as per Tony Blair's predictions
    6. People still remember 13 years of government, and he's still associated with Gordon Brown
    7. People just like Cameron more, despite his flaws

Ironically Lib Dems may get a similar vote percentage to their seat percentage.

I know this to be UNTRUE, but 2% in the first three seats is quite something.

I'd like Andy Burnham, but I worry that if the tabloid press have made this election the equivalent of playing the game on ultra-hard due to Ed's barely left-leaning gambit, then he'd be touted as leading some sort of BOLSHEVIK PROCESSION into Number Ten.

What is the POINT in all these people going on television and then getting GROUCHY because the results aren't in when they're asked questions. What were they expecting to happen for the first three hours, an Eastenders omnibus?

Rumours that George Galloway is OUT.

Potential thriller tonight, lots of possible big names potentially out, albeit not always for good.

Is it a given that they WILL get rid of Ed? Labour historically are more forgiving of losing leaders than the Tories, aren't they?

Not that I've given up hope tonight. Yet :shy:

As already stated in this thread by Bev, this is probably one of the key features really, with it being a popularity contest and all. I suppose the botox injections have paid off!

It's not like Ed has to reform the party like Kinnock did. Unless he wants to hang around to change the rules to stop the unions overruling party members on electing the leader.

My constituency Edinburgh South is possibly one of the few Scottish seats that Labour will hold. :o :disco:

Labour held the seat by only 316 votes against the Lib Dems last time. I thought our utter cunt of an SNP candidate would be a dead cert to win this time.
