Why does ANYONE need an elected mayor? Or even more ridiculously, an ELECTED POLICE COMMISSIONER?

I thought we were TRYING TO SAVE MONEY :eyes:

    VOTED!

And then popped home afterwards and rallied my housemates to stop watching TV and go vote too (for Not Ken). Done my part!

pretty much the MAIN reason why he'll get voted back in

I do despair of people. I really do.

There was that thing about the PICANNINIES a while back. But if she's that politically ignorant, it'll be NEW NEWS for her.

I voted Siobhan and then Ken.

The first one was more of a pity vote and a protest at Labour not being able to come up with anyone more imaginative as a candidate.

I am frustrated that Labour have stuck by Ken this long, when it's obvious that most people won't vote Labour BECAUSE of him.

If ever there was an opening to boot out the Tories while that bumbling buffoon was in charge, it was now.

That all said, I'm still voting Ken. Lesser of two evils and all that.

I don't disagree, but would Oona King really have done any better?

I am still of the opinion that Ken is a good candidate. If it weren't for the anti-Semetic row, I'm not sure what MUD could be SLUNG at him.

As for Oona, I've never liked her and think she's wholly opportunistic. She would have been in her seat for life had it not been for George Galloway.

I voted for Ken DESPITE the Labour party tag. I'd be much happier if he was independent TBH.

Oh the riddled comment had NO basis to it. I found it infuriating that a man who had been championing causes for the gays 20 years before it was deemed "fashionable" by EITHER of the main two parties could be accused of homophobia.

The anti-Semitic comments are harder to bat away if someone were to challenge me on this. After all, I could always say "well I'm gay and I'm still voting for Ken!" as a last resort if someone tried it with the first issue.

It ain't over yet... According to The Sun's political editor (hmm) Team Boris are worried that voters thought he was a shoe-in and haven't been voting.

Live results as they come in here apparently - won't load for me yet, probably because it's just been linked from the BBC...

    :grr:

Graphically, even if you take the votes from the Greens and Lib Dems and stick them on Ken's vote, Boris still looks like he's in the lead.

I love the way some Spanish bloke is standing for the BNP

So, a second generation Spaniard is more acceptable in INGERLOND than a fourth generation black person? LOLZ

    Uruguayan, funkz.

I think the BNP just thought "fuck it - we're not going to win so let's prove we're not racist by putting this bozo in"

There is still hope. I've just looked at the councils that have barely had their votes scanned in yet and many of them have Ken in the lead.

I like how the UKIP twat shows up as "Fresh Choice For London" instead of UKIP. Is that what it said on the ballot paper too, does anyone remember? Are they trying to trick non-racists into voting for them?

Aha, the BBC have answered my question for me :D

BBC political correspondent Carole Walker says UKIP leader Nigel Farage is furious that his party's candidate for Mayor of London, Lawrence Webb, was listed on the ballot paper as Fresh Choice for London. He says it was a cockup which undoubtedly cost UKIP votes and could have helped Boris Johnson's bid for four more years at City Hall.

    DIDDUMS.
