The prediction is that the album will sell 160k-170k in its first week in the US (E=MC2 sold 463k in its first week) :o

    The lambs are going CRAZY

I'm not too bothered, it will chug its way to Platinum status in its own time and shouldn't plummet TOO badly sales-wise with the holidays. Consistency is a lot better than debuting with lots of sales and then tailing off after two weeks like E=MC2.

During an interview with MTV News, Mariah addressed the case of the album's missing songs. Mariah had worked with heavyweight producers Timbaland and Jermaine Dupri on a number of tracks, none of which made it onto Memoirs. The songstress assured fans, however, that they'll soon get a chance to give everything a listen.

"They're not on the album, but we have a special something planned that [record exec] L.A. Reid would be very angry with me if I discussed right now on MTV," she teased. "But for the fans, there will be more than one Timbaland track and at least one J.D. track."

So we're getting a rush re-release, for the holidays, I imagine? Unless it's for a GH project or something, which I doubt since we just got 'The Ballads'.

So the "gold edition" next year then. It would seem pathetic if she re-releases it after only 2 months of being on the shelves.

I hate all those re-releases. Just start with the Ultra Edition in a limited release so the real fans will benefit, but this way they'll sell more. Sad but true.

Why would you do that. I don't throw away CDs I don't like anymore. I don't even want to sell them. This is just stupid.

LMAO @ Fan Album. So true. I think this was a low key release for a reason, it was meant for the fans, not the general public. It's basically her way of shoving all the silly Butterfly-loving stans out of the way. Judging by the interviews from this era, she really wanted to make another 'Charmbracelet' but caved to some of her more gullible fans (I doubt she really even likes Butterfly anymore since shacking up with Nick, I believe she has finally moved on from it, thank goodness for that!).

Before this "remix album" was announced when she said she has another CD planned already, I figured that she had enough material from the sessions that she was going to release a more commercial album during the holidays or early next year with rappers and such along with a few MOAIA urbanized remixes that appeal to those of us that associate her songs with bridges performed by dumpy looking rappers. I... um, I actually miss "Y'ALL KNOW WHAT DIS IS! SO SO DEF!" because I've become so used to it. "RAY-DE-OH KILLAH!" just doesn't sound the same, you know?

I had a TOTAL LIGHTBULB MOMENT with this earlier

This album is the musical equivalent of an INDEPENDENT, CHARACTER-DRIVEN film. Nobody moans when they don't break box office records or get to #1 so for that reason everything is fine!!

HDD give final numbers of 173k at #3. Barbra Streisand is on 176k at #2 (:D) and Paramore on 184k at #1.

There's still a chance that it can pull in ahead of Barbra in the final numbers reported by Billboard. It's not very likely but it isn't uncommon for HDD to be a few thousand off in their final estimates.

Before everyone runs a warm bath of Windex and slashes their wrists let's have a reality check from 1991 when Emotions peaked at NUMBER FOUR

So this album is already BIGGER THAN EMOTIONS!

She's done every big US show going, so we can't say she hasn't promoted the album or there has been a lack of promotion.

What? It's a NARROW margin. I want her to miss #1 as much as the next person, I'm just saying what the possibilities are

Yeah, the list of shows she did during release week is HUUUUGE!

A whole TWO shows even. Bitch must be exhausted.

I don't think #3 is THAT dramatic, but I think the next weeks will be more tragic.

Come on now, a few weeks before the album is released she has done Oprah, Today (mini concert), The View, she's done gigs in Las Vegas, amongst magazine promo and loads of airplay...

actually i think it'll hold up well, for a few weeks at least

the fact she didn't get a number one is annoying only because of how narrow the margin is with the two above her

the tragedy is she's moved less than 200k, which is not superstar sales which ever way you look at it

Part of the problem is that when she has done promotion she's been simultaneously pushing a film, a perfume and an album. :bruised:

    i don't agree, i think people just don't care

it's just too soon for the public to want a new album and obsessed is kinda just there for most i imagine - see how slow the public has been in picking it up
