The studio scenes don't really fit. Should have stuck to shots of Mariah and Miguel on a dirty weekend.

    GOOD LORD :D

I would rather we had a bi-Miguel than billingual, but I think it's harmless.

Quite a gap behind the now legendary Vintage Throwback remix of Triumphant (Get 'Em). Quite frustrating that such a luxurious song is so bankrupt of stellar/pow-tastic remixes.

YouTube some bootleg remixes SoB you won't be disappointed

some of us don't quite like HARDCORE CLUB REMIXES with awful drops and unnecessary breakdowns, I just want a gay old mix where I can throw my hands in the air

This is far and away the best song of the year. And in fact, it is my favourite song since (The) End of Time.

I want a treadmill remix - that one would suck the life out me, although the original is good for the warm-up and cool down (where Mariah's breathlessness conveys even more than before).

so is it safe to say this has peaked and has started on its downward trajectory?

i'm sure mariah thought it would be number one everywhere and to be honest i expected more to come of it as it's such a good song and it all started so well and then came the awful video and a couple of embarrassing performances. do we think that's what happened? it certainly put me off and i'm a lot more forgiving than your average teenager when it comes to 40-year old women acting like big-boned mentally challenged nymphomaniacs...

it doesn't sound like there's a we belong together to follow it up either does it considering they moved the release back?

    what has it sold now?

Surely a sign of bad timing/lack of momentum or whatever we are calling it these days. There's always an excuse but similarly, this must be one of the best selling singles to NOT go Top 20.

On air on sale just doesn't work for her. Her UK fanbase isn't large or motivated enough. With a few weeks lead-in airplay this would have easily been a top ten hit.

A bit of promo would have helped also of course.

    I do agree.

Take note, fans of MKS bemoaning the delay in the release of the single...

Still hanging around the top 40... 12 weeks on. Aside from AIWFCIY this will probably be her longest charting hit.

Nope. So far nothing. It's not good to leave people hanging, cuz eventually people will lose interest.

It's done quite well here in New Zealand. It peaked at #10 and just reentered the Top 20 again.

    #Beautiful hasn't dimmed a bit for me.

That second verse where Mariah explodes onto the track is still the finest pop moment of the year.

    I like
    When you run red lights
Don't stop til you thrill me
    Oh, how you thrill me!

    Amazing.

i like the verse but it feels very gay interest especially the oh how you thrill me. almost embarrassingly so.

anyway, it's still an ace song and i stand by my conviction that it was the awful video and her ridiculous behaviour in the video that ruined its chances for bigger things.

Still one of the best songs of the year. It's stood up better than nearly everything else she's done since 1997... Fair enough it's only been a few months but I do think it will continue to do so

I love how short and sweet it is. It's about time that she's released a lead single that doesn't sound borderline parody-pop, novelty-esque a few months down the line.

Its success was seriously squandered though by the sub-par live performances (and that's being generous) and embarrassing music video. It was still a very nice mid-sized hit for her.

I have an inkling that they have no idea where to go now with the next single and album.

I don't really know where it (relatively) wrong - this was the perfect thing for her to come back with from the sound, to the collaborator, to the song itself (though it's actually no favourite of mine).

I don't know if the live performances did the damage or whether it was the truly awful video. Or if she's past her selling big sell by date with whatever she releases :(

I heard it on the radio at work once in the rare minutes when one of my team had turned on the radio when I was out at a meeting.

I never found out what station it was as I slammed the off button in a huff when I got back.
