Fear is better than Love by a good distance but too much of this just drifts past. Angsty Goth Marina was the best Marina, Mindfulness Scented Candle Marina is not working for me.

I’m not loving this as much as i wanted to. :(

My faves at the moment though are “You” and “No More Suckers”.

Stand outs for me are “Karma”, “No More Suckers”, and “Soft To Be Strong”.
It isn’t as good as previous albums, but I’m still happy.

A surprise #3 in the first set of mids, should land anywhere from 6-10 on Friday with 8-11k sold (Froot was #10, 10k)

She'll play to comfortably more people this week than she'll sell albums then. Standard now.

I think the album is good. And could definitely come to life as the weather heats up.

True, No More Suckers, To Be Human and You are my favourites

It did however feel so much longer than it’s running time. I think this is partly because so many pop albums now are 10 tracks but it may be my poor attention span

I guess this is the 2 8-track albums thing...works on vinyl but the label being stingy and planking it all on one CD will inevitably have that effect.

Rather than score I'll divide this album into categories because why not overcomplicate things?

    Top-tier Marina
    To Be Human
    End of the Earth
    Handmade Heaven

    Really quite great
    Believe In Love
    Orange Trees
    Enjoy Your Life
    No More Suckers

    Pretty good
    True
    Too Afraid
    Life Is Strange
    Emotional Machine
    Superstar
    Soft to be Strong

    Hmmm

    You
    Karma

I can't fit Baby in cos I still can't decide how much I love it and it absolutely doesn't belong on this album. The top 3 are really great and in general I'm enjoying the album - I just need to reorder the tracklist and cut a few out to keep it concise

And the tour kicked off last night - here's the setlist for Newcastle

    Handmade Heaven
    Hollywood
    Primadonna
    Enjoy Your Life
    I Am Not a Robot
    To Be Human
    Superstar
    Froot
    Orange Trees
    Happy

    Believe In Love
    Life is Strange
    Soft to be Strong
    I'm a Ruin
    Are You Satisfied?
    Karma
    Savages
    Immortal

    End of the Earth
    How To Be a Heartbreaker

As expected quite heavy on Love/Fear and Froot, but no Blue :(

You can see the decline in the album market right there.

Not half. Less than a third of TFJ's opening to get to the sane position.

And, yet, with each album, her tours have been in bigger and bigger venues.

Have they? The venues for this tour are like 2k capacity max right, RAH aside?

It was exactly the same venue as I saw her last time that I saw her in tonight. Absolutely brilliant live- she really is a great performer and pop star. The crowd was (as before) hip and young, where I didn’t fit at all :D

Do you go to the concerts alone? I want to go but I’m on my own and it’s a standing venue.

I didn’t to this one but I often do go to concerts alone. A fair few people near us were solo...

do it. i've gone to a fair few concerts alone (including a two day festival). the worst that could happen is that you could meet someone who loves the same music you do.

They're the same or bigger than the FROOT tour and sold out more quickly.

I saw her last night too. Was a FAB show and a proper full killer set list. It was very difficult trying to decide when to go piss.

The place was full of MARDY GIRLFRIENDS though. Moved away from one couple bickering constantly only to end up next to another pair. CHEER UP CUNTS.

I was next to an off her tits student shouting “SAM” up at the balcony constantly, despite her friends desperately trying to make her realise Sam wasn’t there.

    Weren’t the crowd SCREAMY?

I also enjoyed the man in the toilets watching the Liverpool game who said he only came to Marina because his girlfriend wanted him to and she was going to go mental when he got back as he’d been gone 20 minutes :D

They were VERY screamy and attention seeking.

There’s a special place in hell for people who scream out in the middle of a quiet ballad just to be heard.

Didn’t @Star go to a a Kylie concert on her own or was that Boyzone. I vaguely recall her having a blast either way :disco:

I’ve never done it but I’ve bought an extra ticket a few times and forced a friend to come to concerts they didn’t want to go to :D

i've done kylie alone as well (cause mats was being too cool).
    it was good.

it's nice to be with someone at a concert but only if it's someone who actually cares about the act. otherwise i feel bad about making them come or dragging them to the front and tend to get preoccupied whether they're bored.

I've never done a seated concert on my own. I do think I'd feel a little self conscious at those, but I'm sure I'd get over it. If you can't, you could always make a fake phone call to a friend supposedly sat somewhere else and wave at them repeatedly. I'm quite sure I was sat next to a young woman doing that once. Or there's the 'pretend to be a journalist reviewing it' approach.

And as ameraal says, giving with someone who doesn't really want to be there is more stressful. I've done it with Mr L early on, and I just ended up worrying about him rather than enjoying myself.

Plus there's the cost of the ticket these days, you just can't justify it for someone whose not really going to enjoy it

I saw her in Manchester for the final night of the tour on Friday. She was absolutely exceptional :disco: I'm still on quite a high about the whole thing.

There's so much to say but highlight performances were Froot, I'm A Ruin (exquisite), Enjoy Your Life, Orange Trees and the encore of End of the Earth (truly stunning), Baby and How to Be A Heartbreaker. The crowd was insane for that. It was the only night of the tour she did Baby and it seriously WENT OFF.

Vocals throughout were brilliant, gorgeous outfits... staging cheap as chips and dancers not exactly the best money can buy, but Marina just sells the living shit out of everything and it was really a brilliant night, even a touch emotional for me in places, hearing songs like I Am Not a Robot and Froot live when I wasn't sure I ever would.

    What a woman. :disco:

I saw her in Manchester too. Such a good show, and I wasn't necessarily going into it with high hopes having been roundly disappointed by this album. She's really quite a fantastic vocalist.

I’m so jealous. I’ve never seen her live and I don’t think she’ll ever bother coming down here.
