Wikipedia tells me that Matt Pop is a Dutch writer, producer and remixer. I know he's done lots of unofficial Abba remixes, and dropped a new one of 'I Am The City' yesterday, and I think it's RATHER GOOD.

And this one of 'Should I Laugh Or Cry' from last year is decent, too.

Oh wonderful. I love his remixes of Just Like That, If It Wasn't For The Nights and Story Of A Heart (I must have got them from Moopy). Are there any other good older ones I'm missing out on?

NAR: iTunes has a Matt Pop remix of Cilla Black's cover of John Lennon's "Imagine". It's worse than cancer.

And it's on the album of hers that went to #1 after she died, which would surely make it the most widely heard of all Matt Pop's mixes

Assuming the people that bought that album even made it that far into the tracklist, of course

No. The original "Just Like That" tapes were apparently stolen out of Benny's boot!

    WHAT?

They really should authorise a remix project like this. It would give them full authorised access to gay dance floors around the world.

Admittedly I was quite pissed at the time but I listened to his remix of 'Me and I' the other week and WEPT. God I LOVE HIM :disco:

    Yes.

I worry that ABBA are losing relevance with young queens so we need to get some hot remixes out there ASAP. A sample by Granny Madge a decade ago ain't going to cut it for the Kylie Jenner generation!

Bjorn and Benny really need to remove the stick they both have up their arses about this.

I guess they don't really NEED to, considering that Mamma Mia in its various incarnations has probably guaranteed they will be around for a few generations yet, but it's arguably beyond tacky. I mean, that new Stockholm restaurant? PLEASE.

Pretty sure I still hear the phrase "I love ABBA" by plenty of the younger generation. Don't forget our generation brought them up!

Did they authorise those Abbacadabra albums in the early 00s? I hated them.

I love the Under Attack remix. At one point it sounds like Winifred Atwell and that's NO BAD THING.

I wonder if B&B are still upset. They always seemed over protective and fussy about their music. Yet the more I see of them, I seem like pleasant guys with a sense of social consciousness! Benny's a proper Socialist... and Bjorn came out as a Remainian) Not that protectiveness over your professional life is a direct opposite of being pleasant.

They seem adamant that anything "unfinished" will never see the light of day, no matter how much the fans clamour for it. The fact that lots of Opus 10 ended up being used for other things just compounds that.

Having said that, Elaine Paige played a really poor quality demo from "Chess" on her Radio 2 show (which was actually a reworking of "Just Like That"/"Under Attack". It was never used in the show in the end. They must have given her permission to play it - I can't imagine the BBC would play a bootleg.

There's a ridiculous early 2000s Germanic techno remix I'm rather partial to, but aside from that I can't say I cared.

If you're not into musicals, "Chess" is not the place to start. It's got some amazing music in it and I love it.

Same goes for "Kristina Från Duvemåla" but that's even harder work than "Chess".

I don't think I've read much about Benny's politics. I know he's donated heavily to a Swedish feminist political party fairly recently.

And Bjorn is a prominent atheist humanist. I ought to read up more on it, because whenever I do, I find it quite fascinating.

Maybe I've shared Bjorn's politics between the two of them. Good for Bjorn.

They both seem to be cut from similar cloth politically. Good on them.

The 'Abba Undeleted' track from the 'Thank You For The Music' boxset shows how they kept tweaking and reworking things until they got them exactly how they wanted them. And the 'From A Twinkling Star To A Falling Angel' journey of 'Like An Angel Passing Through My Room' from the last 'The Visitors' deluxe shows it as well.

They also remain fairly scathing about some album tracks and even single, because they were never completely happy with them. I'm sure 'Angeleyes' and 'Summer Night City' (both pretty much perfect to these ears) for starters...

Oh they HATE don't the final cut of SNC don't they? Not they mind the extended intro version AT ALL.

Would like to hear the other 49 mixes of that song (or would that be 48). Certainly showed that they were real perfectionists.
