The first act for Melfest 2019 has been confirmed. The Lovers of Valdaro (what a NAME :disco:) won this year's P4 Nästa competition for upcoming talent, meaning they'll follow such unforgettable and wildly successful entrants as Stiko Per Larsen, Les Gordons and SMILO in winning a wildcard ticket to compete in the show.

The good news is they're pretty good. This is nothing earth shattering, but at least it suggests we're unlikely to be subjected to another white reggae horror like last year.

This is the first time an act I'd already heard of has won - good news.

Yes I like Lost Forever, it comes off like a budget version of The Sound of Arrows. This kind of slightly alt eighties electropop does not have a good record at MF - I predict they will produce my favourite song in the heat and out in last place.

The Lovers of Valdaro have released an EP with a couple of new songs, which are fine but not as good as Lost Forever, and a cover of I Promised Myself, which shows good if not rare taste.

An unidentified male is rumored to be one of the first acts confirmed for 2019. The young twink, we can call him 'O', has previous Mello experience competing as part of a boyband a few years back.
'O's new entry will feature a song about the love of his life Cecilia Dahlbom, 50, we can call her "CD".
O cheekily sings ”I love it, my parents don’t like it” on the Mello 2019 entry, alluding to how the juvenile defied his parents wishes. While his folks still resists the idea of how their once 17 year old son entered a OCD relationship with a 29 years older 'Christer Lindarv'-double, O seemingly takes things in stride, continuing on with "Young and clean, only seventeen, meeting you, born pre Dancing Queen".

Four does seem like it might be overegging it a bit but it has to be better than David Lindgren single handed.

I see Ann-Louise Hanson is apparently in, Magnus Carlsson is trying to find the right song and Margaret is weighing her options.

Yes to Sarah DF as long as we get some Lynda Woodruff. If we have Fab Freddie again I'll kill myself.

SVT are apparently desperate to get Molly Sandén again, but she’s said no. Now she is actually successful!

Bjorkman has stated that the full line-up will be announced on 27 November.

Rumors circulating are that Bella & Filippa and Vargas & Lagola (Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir) are in as well.

Bella & Filippa are welcome back anytime.

Vargas & Lagola will be one of possibly several Avicii tribute numbers, I suspect. For a split second I thought it was Roger Pontare and Salem Al Fakir and was thoroughly confused with regards to that possibly came to pass.

All I remember of Salem Al Fakir was his godawful previous entry so I'm intrigued how he can turn into something Avicii-esque.

I've confidence in Salem Al Fakir's post-2010 songs. Not so much on how an Avicii tribute will go down at Eurovision

He co-wrote most of Avicii's big hits (with Vincent Pontare), and featured on a couple of them too, so I'd imagine they're trying to more or less do Avicii without Avicii.

This is what we have so far:

    Officially confirmed
    1. The Lovers of Valdaro (selected through P4 Nästa)

    Definitely in according to Aftonbladet
    2. Oscar Enestad
    3. Arvingarna
    4. Wiktoria
    5. Nano

Very likely to participate according to Aftonbladet
    6. John Lundvik
    7. Jon-Henrik Fjällgren
    8. Ann-Louise Hanson
    9. Magnus Carlsson
    10. Margaret

Very likely to participate according to Hänt
    11. Ben Mitkus
    12. Vlad Reiser

Very likely to participate according to Shimoda
    13. Arja Saijonmaa
    14. Excellence

If all the names turn out to be true, we would have 11 comebacks out of 14 names. Last year, there were only 10 comebacks.

Jan Malmsjö is an actor. He’s about 90!!!

Anton Hagman was in MF 2017 with Kiss You Goodbye and got to the final. He’s likely to be one of the favourites is past results go.

No idea who the other two are but upon Googling they are pretty boys.

So looks like Sweden are likely to send the same old same old. Well if it gets them good results then I can see why, but it would be nice of them to shake things up a bit.

Vlad Reiser is a Youtuber. Bishara records covers on YouTube and he's 15. He's got a beautuful voice though.
What is more, Aftonbladet states that Ann-Louise Hanson is in as well.

Arja's clearly coming 7th in her semi again but it's great to have her here!

I have a feeling it's Anton Hagman's year. Follows the tested rule of someone coming back on their second attempt to win...

Eric Saade, Robin Bengtsson, Benjamin Ingrosso...

Although Margaret also fits that bill, but Sweden sending a Pole is about as unlikely as San Marino sending a contender...

Maybe I'm getting old and jaded but I can't say I'm mega excited at any of those names... even Arja's unlikely to come back with something as good as her highlights.

With a song written by Dotter! As long as it’s nothing like Cry, but it will probably be pop schlagery.
