you should choose the next book, Kala!
Innit bitch. I'd be down for that
Ok then - how about this?
NOT IN A MILLION YEARS!
no, I'm kidding. I'm willing to try. I can already tell it's out of my comfort zone but if pushing the limits ain't living then what is
it's provided I can get a copy through the library though. books are crazy expensive in Denmark
the reviews on goodreads with lines like
I AM SO EMOTIONAL
I will never stop crying
I'm afraid to read this book
have indeed piqued my interest
I’ve seen that on’t shelves in ASDA.
I’m up for it.
I've just been fingering Daisy Jones in Waterstones. £12.99 for a signed copy.
I mean we don't HAVE to go for that one. I only spent 5 minutes in Waterstones and this one seemed quite 'Moopy' in theme. I think it seems to be in the style of one of those documentaries - and is laid out a bit like a script. It's only just out so if we do decide to go for it, it might be better when it's been out for a while and is cheaper...
yes we do
my library only has it as audiobook. so exciting, I haven't tried that since childhood
that's incredible. a new release here is at least £30
I'm up for whatever you choose beb. If you decide while I'm still in Mexico, ever better. I'm CHEWING through books here.
In fairness that's probably cheaper than most full price hardback, which are usually more like £20. But yes, books are cheaper here than most places generally, I believe.
it's the cunting VAT
Oh I hate the cover but sounds like a plan.
It’s £9 in Asda!!!!!
Thanks for the tip love, will go pick it up later. I better start a new thread!
Ok so this is the official thread for this month's book, chosen by me, after I was nominated by @Mats. No strict deadline, but I don't think it will take too long to read, shall we say April 30? We can start discussing it then.
It's just under £9 on Amazon, or £9 in Asda (thanks @jivafox)
Or also try your local library, I am a massive supporter of those!
Let's do this bishes
Does Lidl stock it though ?
Asda have cleared their shelves
Oh no! @jivafox - shall we do a an Edouard Louis for May?
Do you think we could get ASDA to sponsor our bookclub? We could be the ASDA Book Club, like Oprah's Book Club but slightly smellier.
24 weeks till I can get hold of a digital copy through the library
You could always download a copy from mobilism.org for free. Depending on your views on internet piracy ☠️
I got a copy today. £6.50 in W.H.Smith!
I'll let you know what the update from my local Asda is !
I am lowkey...loving this?
It reminds me of Jackie Collins. Obviously with much less and trash, but I can’t see to put it down.
I'm still only halfway through The Little Friend but will be starting on this as soon as I finish it. I doubt I'll have this done & dusted by the end of the month though
well i’ve finished it so if anybody would like me to send them my copy i’m happy to do so.
Does Mats want it?
good idea, @Mats ?
very kind of you, @jivafox, but gracious Kala has already helped me out
although I bet your cigarette and wine infused copy would only add to the Daisy Jones experience
Ok gang! I just started this!
Jiva can I have your copy?
yass bitch, PM your POSTAL.
I'm about a third of the way into this. I decided to go with the audiobook option and it actually works really well given the conversational / interview / 'rockumentary' style of it. Did they actually hire Stevie Nicks to do Daisy's voice?
So far it's lightweight froth but rather enjoyable. Think Fleetwood Mac True Hollywood Story meets A Star is Born but hey ho, it touches the zeitgeist I guess. But I do want to know what happens so in that sense it is unputdownable ....
oh i didn’t even think about the audiobook! that would have been fun.
Hey Moopy, is this still on or is a May book coming up soon?
