Just in case the message hasn't got across Moopyrate is DEAD.

This may change in future and it may be reinvented, but in it's traditional format, it won't be happening this year, for sure.

Why? Well unless it's not obvious, it was in terminal decline and got just a handful of votes last time. I'm not here to waste my time on something that is not only past it's best, but seemingly not right for contemporary Moopy. It had a great run.

That is a shame... I think you're right though - dead in its original form might be a good idea... but what about something a bit like the Eurovision favourites sorter. People might just need a different voting system. There's got to be a way to make one of those easy enough?

Or use a google form to get the results so that it's easier to compile them and doesn't become a burden on your time.

Having said all this, I have no idea what my last 3 or 4 rankings have been :D Am I even in the list any more?

I just think we're past the point of needing it. It doesn't need replacing in my view, it's just a thing whose time has gone, like Sunny Delight or Neil Kinnock.

I'll always love the doomed box-office bomb that was Moopyrate 22 for finally giving me a win in the most perfectly underwhelming way possible but there's no point bringing it back for a while yet. I've got nowhere near enough money to focus-group my forum persona again anyway.

The site is basically a drama-free zone these days and being mean to people on the internet was most of the fun. Since the people who were apparently popular on here a few years ago left, the whole culture of Moopy has completely changed. I don't think there's any real demand for it right now.

(which is good because the winner's curse is fucking terrifying)

I enjoyed doing the results show...I think I did it twice and got into the spirit by being right cunty.

If the results show got a great presenter, it was super fun. I have found memories of Moonbaby's car crash countdown comeback.

It's a shame we've lost a few of the threads

Not MANY. I think a couple of the early ones, although I seem to recall they quite big and rowdy. We'd probably cringe now. I think it's golden phase was the late 00s.

All the results threads I could find are in Moopy Gold, it gets patchy pre-2010 because I was still writing fan-fiction about my Football Manager saves back then.

I don't miss it until I see someone post something hateful and stupid and try to make a mental note to get them the next moopyrate.

Having not been part of Moopyrate for many years I don’t actually miss it, but do look back fondly at the glory years.

Didn’t we get Moonbaby back once to host the results?

That’s the most interesting thing I found to say. Scrap it.

Maybe it's because everyone just got old - the playground appeal has gone and the exhaustion with it. Who knows

It's hard to fathom the heady days when moopers would flood the site on results evening and without fail previously unknown BILE would froth out. It was always a fun dramatic ride even when you were sat on the outskirts wondering if you'd cracked the top 40

That said bizarrely I think I came top 5 once. But let's face it, WHO HASN'T by now

But RoM honey, for a long time, you WERE quite a popular Moopy poster (not that I'm disputing the points you're actually making).

Pretty much it. We all got older. Also I think the world and the internet have changed. Back then reality TV and the all the drama that came with them were all rage, now there's more to rally AGAINST, rather than one another.

I'm quite glad Moopyrate is dead, cos I can continue to be cunty and self-righteous and patronising and moralistic to everyone and not worry about the consequences. :disco:

Oh well those were long distant and in real life generally DARK old days but I always saw myself (and was comfortable with) being a background poster who just happened to post a lot. But thanks, Bev (I think :D)

I do enjoy being back here regardless. Even with the online world and acceptable internet behaviour changing dramatically, there's still nowhere quite like moopy for things that seem impossible to discuss elsewhere, online or in real life - perhaps more now than ever as we get increasingly older and even more cynical

If early 00s reailty TV is what shaped MoopyRate, could we not do the same with modern Reality TV? I know that sounds really simplistic, but could we somehow do a Real Housewives-oriented Moopyrate? Would that even work?

Y'see, I assumed it was Drag Race reference or something but since no-one else has a clue what he's on about, I'm good.

    Touting other options:

Open All Hours (Mooping All Hours) - a 24 hour postathon.
Changing Rooms (Changing Moops) - we go round each others houses and cover a room in mansons or pictures of Lauren Harries.
Coach Trip (Moop Trip) - @cwej and @leicestershire_travel host Moopy couples as they take coach trips to Jaywick.

Moopy Mafia is my favourite Moopy game even though it is exhausting and takes over your life for several days. There’s enough bitching and deception in that for it to be an ample substitute for Moopyrate.

Mooplicate. You have to post using a complete post made by another m,ember within the last 24 hours without being caught out as having done so. Posts must be at least 10 words long to count.
