Pasta of course...
Not necessarily over rated but things i hate -
Sultanas/raisins/any dried fruit - vile meaning i detest fruitcake.
Salt & Vinegar crisps
i think olives are over rated. and white wine.
actually chocolate is pretty over rated, especially cadburys and nestle.
Olives are horrible.
I have to be in the mood for an olive. I can't say I couldn't live without them.
ANCHOVIES are a weakness of mine. I would certainly MISS them, let's put it like that. And MUSSELS, but they are more of an OCCASSIONAL food than a staple.
I often think im a bit boring with food....i dont like things like olives, shellfish, anything too fancy or too strong a flavour. Im much happier with bland tasting food, pasta, chicken, etc
You just need to go to a nice restaurant that will confuse you with all the nice flavours and fancy names Rachey. I can't imagine there are many culinary WIZARDS on 'The Island'.
i just went and did a £120 shop today and didn't but one single bit of junk food - it was quite liberating - but also daunting to think that i've got not convenience food for the next fortnight.
i bought no chocolate or booze - scary stuff.
We have LOADS of good restaurants here actually, it is a top tourist destination after all
But i always stick to simple pasta or chicken dishes really, mainly because alot of other dishes are either too spicy, contain peppers or are all meat things.
Was it YOU who'd never had STEAK before Rachey?
Only because im not a big meat eater and the thought of steak made me feel ill, but it was actually lovely.
I cant eat lamb or veal tho...ever.
Why not? Better to get them YOUNG I say.
I just COULDNT
I dont like the taste of meat really either, altho i do sometimes get real meat cravings, so i have a sausage.
I would make a generic 'filth/slut' style post but I am not that kind of poster.
I'm finding my palate unnervingly similar to Rachey's, reading this and the other thread!
Kind of bland and unadventurous?
I think I'm a bit more adventurous as I love my spicy stuff, but on a day to day level, we're scarily similar!
I was very unadventurous as a child, but I was once at a meal and didn't want to make a FAUX PAS by refusing to eat something, so I just RAMMED IT DOWN my throat, and from then on I became a veritable EDDIE [without the issues of course].
Do you like proper spicy stuff? Mouth burning? I never understand people who eat curries that burn your mouth, you cant even taste them after a while
Will you try anything? even if it looks a bit grim?
i do like fiery food, but not so much that you can't actually taste the flavours.
Yeah, when it comes to the uberspicy I'm a bit of a wuss...
i'm quite adventurous with food - i think it stems from my mother being such a flop cook and me being brought up on casseroles and oven chips.
as soon as i left home i tried all the things i'd never tasted when i lived at home.
somerfield vac pac microwave haggis springs to mind.
Oh David, you big pussy, don't tell me you don't eat veal and lamb? The next time I'm coming to your country, I'll take you and Rachey out for a nice chop.
Are you MAD?
erm....supposing you are in a foreign country and they offer you some dish....crocodile/kangaroo/etc....
I'll try anything once.
Beef/lamb - mainly because i just dont eat much meat, but i can see why people do like it.
Salt & vinegar crisps....i just dont like the tangyness, plus i hate vinegar.
Spag Bol...i dont like mince unless its with cheese sauce in lasagne.
Ill have a chicken leg instead.
Whyever NOT? It might be lovely.
I'm a little apprehensive about going to Mongolia - apparently a host often SPITS in the drink of his guest. Maybe I'll pass JUST THAT ONCE.
I don't really eat red meat, aside from steak a couple of times a year, 50% for health reasons, 50% cause I prefer the alternatives...
Have it with meatballs then. Either way it's one of my fave foods, especially with finely chopped onions & bacon.
ahh, I see. Well let's just go to Kentucky Fried Chicken instead.
And I HATE lamb with a passion, as my mum used to use it for the Sunday roast most weeks and well, no...
Hmm i could try that...i do like the pasta part
