    Anyone following this?

Madonna paying 'tribute' to Aretha but mostly to herself

JLo performing medley before accepting Vanguard award. Quite a visual delight. Loved the props, the Versace, the choreography. (JaRule finally gets a call)

You can tell she doesn't know shit about Aretha.

I don't think she actually said that. I think that was someone else parodying her speech.

The "in remembrance" eulogies at these awards show are always pointless, asinine bullshit anyway. As if Aretha Franklin would have cared about the fucking VMAs.

I'm still annoyed that it's basically impossible to find actual clips of Marge being a self-obsessed raging egotist and saying "LOL". Those YouTube channels that recap stuff without showing anything that actually happened are the bane of human existence.

For once, I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt and suggest that she was probably asked to present an award and give some anecdote, what with it having been her 60th birthday.

As an Aretha tribute it’s misjudged and I’m not sure Madonna is really the right person to be giving it anyway. But as an MTV thing it reeks of them killing two birds with one stone and getting the 60 year old woman on (gosh how ashamed they must have been to give any screentime to someone over the age of 21) to give a tribute to an artist who wasn’t ever really MTV fodder.

I don’t know what it was about that J Lo perf but something just felt a bit flat

The ordering of songs was all over the place

Cher speaking for all of us

I checked twitter when I woke up today and everyone on my timeline was ranting about how horrible Madonna was.

I wish they never gave tribute to her in the first place, instead of pretending like they care about Aretha or that Aretha even knew who they were. It was just really "Look at us! We care about REAL music too!"

Arianas vocals were great but she could really have taken it a notch higher at the end as well, I wanted a full blown choir bringing the house down

The Push: Artist of the Year award was won by Lesbian Jesus Hayley Kiyoko (sorry PRETTYMUCH). Her album is fantastic but I hadn't realised that she's clearly totally batshit, and now I love her even more:

Changing 'Moonman' to 'Moonperson' just sounds clumsy. I hate it when corporations try to be woke.

Madonna was awful and on a par with that "Molly" thing from a few years back.

The LAST thing I need from J Lo is LIVE VOX.

Best pop album of the year for me, I wanted to mention this in the Ariana thread but I was afraid I was gonna get SHOT!

    I'M JUST CURIOUS
    IS IT SERIOUS?
