Sure it's been talked about before, but MY WORD, I've just got into it and it's bloody WONDERFUL isn't it. Julia Davis has created surely the best new character on television in the last 10 years? Jill Tyrrell is the most grotesque, shocking woman anyone could ever imagine isn't she?!

Yes LOVE IT. Bunty'll be in here in 2 secs telling us it's the worst sitcom ever made though.

I've actually never seen a single episode.

Bunty's Magic Vegetable absolutely detests it, and her.

I loved the first series. The second hasn't done anything for me.

I missed it when it was on TV but watched all of Series 1 (except the final episode :sour:) on a plane journey. I LOVE it! :D

Series 2 doesn't quite live up to the first onew for me but still rather good.

Series 1 is better - and it kinda felt like it shoulda ended there really - it was a story and the story ended with her going mad and killing half of the cast... so to carry it on seemed futile. However, my favourite scene of the entire programme is in Series 2 when she's trying to convince the woman on reception that she's black...

    'I thought you'd be...'
'Black? It's alright, June, I won't report you for racism... I am black, we've just had a couple of bad summers.'. :D

I loved it, but I discovered from watching the first couple of episodes again that repeated viewing does it no favours. I guess the shock factor goes, and there isn't really much substance behind it.

I found I enjoyed it MORE the 2nd time for the same reason weirdly enough... Shock doesn't normally make me laugh... but once the shock has gone, I found it funnier...

Though when she gives that poor girl the facelift in Series 2, I WAS shocked to the point of EUUUUGH.... :o

Just how graphic IS it? I mean i know it touches on some very dodgy issues, but with it being BBC, i can't imagine it being all that gory/visual.

It's pretty shocking. There's not much VISUALLY shocking... lots of lots of heavy sexual references but the facelift scene I just referred to was pretty much horror movie visuals - I'm sure that's the main reason it's certificated 18!! Remember it's BBC3 which is a different ball game really...

Yeah I know but how would they have the BUDGET for realistic graphic gore? I'm thinking of Doctor Who here... :D

It ain't realistic - it's UTTERLY OTT with blood splattering all over Jill while she destroys the girl's face with a screwdriver... but it's fucking SICK.

And let's be honest, Doctor Who's special effects REALLY aren't bad AT ALL. It's hardly like the budget spent on Doctor Who in the old days - we're talking millions and millions of pounds a series.

Love it, but always miss it. One of those I need to just buy on DVD.

Can anyone remember the spoof docs she used to do with Rob Brydon, and are they available on DVD? They were exceptional - and came before The Office...

I really liked the first series, haven't seen much of the second but I didn't like the first episode of it, it was too much about trying to shock.

    Get Jam or Brass Eye

Jam IS STILL fabulously WARPED even after what FIVE YEARS?

You'll recognise most the cast now...

It's West Country, but not Bristol, is it? I think they refer to going 'up Bristol' a couple of times. I've always assumed it's somewhere GHASTLY like Yeovil.

Love Series 1 of Nighty Night, one of my favourite series' ever, the whole tone of it is just perfect. Series 2 was nowhere near as good, far too OTT and trying desperately to shock - it was just a bit bizarre and not as funny. I still bought the DVD though and I must admit after watching the whole second series again it did seem better than the first time because you can concentrate less on the shock factor and more on the funny side of it, but yeah I was expecting more when it did return last year.

Humain Remains is brilliant too, Brydon and Davis make a great onscreen couple in all their character creations. My favourite would have to be the Welsh couple where Rob's character acts completely homophobic despite showing signs of being gay himself and Julia's character is the completely dozy girl who gets knocked up (and knocked about) by him and made to lezz off with the woman who plays Linda in Nighty Night in front of him and his mate. SPINDALERRO :D

Just finished the 2nd series and it really is a disappointment... it worked far better in the 1st series because there was a grounding in reality, albeit a very slight one... the 2nd one just becomes more and more absurd as it goes on until a denouement that is just ridiculous... it is more slapstick than anything by the end.

I still enjoy it and there are some funny moments, but whilst the 1st series makes wonderful wonderful TV, the 2nd series is just a bit bizarre... I PRESUME that's the end of it now!!!? Half the cast are dead anyway!

Yeah she's not making anymore, which is definitely a good thing. Sometimes I wish she'd left it at one series but there were still some great lines in the second one (mainly from Linda).

"Terry tied my 'gina hair in a bow and let me love him down below".

"Fish was lookin' at me Jill, Dogfish... think it was my nana, she always said she'd come back".

"To be fair Linda, you did lose your cherry to a dog".
    "Was lovely".
