I assume the foppy pouty lead singer of the Blow Monkeys is a raging homo.

    But WHO KNOWS?

I don't think I realised just how omnipresent The Smiths were throughout the 1980s.

Morrissey is such a shame really.

We lost the Smiths just when they could have gone supernova. It's as if The Beatles split after Rubber Soul. If Moz hadn't been such a prissy knob, we could have had so much more. And now, of course, he's a colossal cunt. Tragic.

Nope. Wife, kids, the whole thing. Re-established his hetro credentials by playing bass for Paul Weller for a bit. No, really.

I still can't decide about SWING OUT SISTER even after all these years. Although the video for SURRENDER is a HORROR and someone must have been having a laugh getting her to sing about WEVENGE

Wow. I've always assumed he was based on Digging Your Scene and after seeing that performance I was more convinced.

I was quite taken aback by the size of Carly's eighties perm in that clip.

I haven't done this in ages...1987 doesn't feel as immediately interesting...anyway, best get this done before they start disappearing.

Jesus - what a start, Gary Davies introducing Status Quo. Did Sid Vicious die for this?

This Gary Moore record was better in my memory. I'd forgot the rubbish 80's synth strings.

"A guy who's been trying to have a hit in this country for years" says Gary Davies about Iggy Pop. Ignorant fuckwit.

"The Boy In The Bubble" is a legit banger. Great record, best Paul Simon ever made (on his own, anyway)

Gary Davies a-fucking-gain??? And with Steve Wright? Good God.

I don't remember this Dead Or Alive record...a product of the long-gone January sales/releases lull, I expect.

    "Rat In Mi Kitchen"! :D

We had a Maths teacher with prominent front teeth who was nicknamed Ratface (not to her face). When the unofficial school magazine did a spoof NOW compilation, they gave her this song and she went fucking mental. It still makes me laugh now.

None of this miming crap for Randy Crawford. I remember the record but could not have told you the title. Almaz sounds like somewhere teenagers go to on holiday to get drunk and neck some pills. "She's young and tender" makes the subject of the song sound like a lamb shank.

Siouxsie And The Banshees. Legends. I actually have this performance on a DVD. The outfits are peak 80's goth glam, gotta love it.

Fun fact: Siouxsie nearly had this pulled because she hadn't realised Bob Dylan had written the song and she hated him. So Wright mentioning him probs cheesed her off.

I had completely forgotten that "Jack Your Body" was a number one! The start of the trend of a not-necessarily-commercial dancefloor smash being a chart topper?
