They seem to be one of the more divisive foods, I think. I've always been quite averse to them but since I've been in Europe I have had the urge to eat them every day, black, green, whole, as a dip, it's such a wonderfully savory and complex taste. And very satisfying as a snack.\

    poll coming as always

One or two, yes, but I wouldn't exactly binge on them or anything.

My problem is that I DO binge on them. Bread with oil and vinegar and a bowl of olives (preferably the big fuck off fat green ones stuffed with garlic or pimento, but any will do) is just about the perfect starter for me. Or a meal in itself. I can never have a few and leave the rest.

I'm not hugely fond of the purple kalamata olives though. I think it's because they often seem slightly slimy and less firm than the green and regular black ones.

Bread, oil, garlic, olives (and possibly cheese) really ARE the best combination of food I've ever known.

I couldn't stand them until I was about 18 and my dad FORCED me to eat some when I was in Australia and I realised they weren't so bad. Now I can't get enough of them.
I only eat green ones though black ones are a bit ming.

Bung in a few anchovies and some sun dried tomatoes, and I could quite happily live off nothing else for a week or two.

    Sundried tomatos yes, anchovies no.

Artichokes are another new vegetable I'm enjoying for the first time here in Belgium. Maybe they are just shit quality in America

Fresh olives on ice would probably feature in my fantasy last meal on earth.

Hated them until a few years ago. I like kalamata best - more richly flavoured and less bitter than the green ones. Green ones stuffed with anchovies are pretty awesome though.

I really could binge on a bowl of black olives for an entire day. They really are my vegetable No. 1.

LOVE THEM. So nice. Olives, proper aioli, bread, wine, safe. Chuck in some boquerones and I'm happy to get nude.

I'm not convinced yet. I certainly don't hate them as much as I used to but I wouldn't thank you for them to be honest. Perhaps that may change in the future...

Everybody tells me that olives are an acquired taste. Just the oiliness of them has me retching, I don't believe I'll ever acquire a fondness for them.
