Megan Thee Stallion - WAP they've gone a bit female/pop crazy this year and we love to see it.
WAP was the song of the year. Not my favorite, but the most culturally significant/quoted/controversial. And that is what Pitchfork is all about these days. Perfume Genius in the top 10 is very (maybe my song of the year). In fact, this list includes a lot of greatness. Pitchfork has sold out, but it makes for an interesting list.
I said certified bleak Seven days a week Old man funky His new music game's weak, woooh (love ya, funks)
The second song on the list is new to me but is very /but also as it is about always having to watch out for men as a woman @funky @Jark I think y'all would like it and it is for sure better than my description made it sound
These are my favourite, ever so slightly ALT discoveries from the full list Also Bill Callahan, but posting that here would be wilful perversity itself SO LET’S The Oneohtrix Point Never track is great as well but I already knew that one
the 50 albums list lots of DISCO 48. charli xcx - how I'm feeling now 43. Megan Thee Stallion - Good News 41. Rina Sawayama - SAWAYAMA 29. Taylor Swift - folklore 28. Chloe x Halle - Ungodly Hour 27. Kelly Lee Owens - Inner Song 24. Grimes - Miss Anthropocene 21. Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia 17. Róisín Murphy - Róisín Machine 09. Jessie Ware - What's Your Pleasure? 08. HAIM - Women In Music pt. III 04. Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher 01. Fiona Apple - Fetch the Bolt Cutters
Mary Lattimore at #50 (as featured in my wildly popular ambient lounge, I believe) and ARCA at #40 Well I say . #1 would be more appropriate for the latter
As I see @Phoenix in the thread, what’s the name of that (I think) Japanese-American singer you like who writes very short songs? I simply CANNOT remember
I'm surprised but pleased to see Haim in there - they didn't really get much love for this release. And it's a fantastic album.
