What podcast is this? Can't find it on my usual app.
You Must Remember This.
There's about 8 or so episodes about the Family.
@VoR I really enjoyed your episode on The Room!
PLEASE consider doing Showgirls!
I don't want us to blow our load too early with the ALL TIME CLASSICS, but Showgirls is definitely on the horizon.
I'm loving the Jane Fonda/Jean Seberg series You Must Remember This is currently running. Fonda comes off as a bit of a nut TBH, but the Jean Seberg stuff - who I'd never really heard of before - is so sad and fascinating.
I'm finding You Must Remember This unbearable these days. The content is stellar but the delivery is horrendous. I've had to delete it.
I am really enjoying Homo Sapiens even if last week's featured the ONLY GAY TO HAVE EVER LIVED John Grant.
OMG why does she talk like that?!
And I've only just discovered popchops which is Moopy in podcast form.
Current Moopy or classic Moopy?
I second the love for Homo Sapiens - although this week they are interviewing a woman
More the music forum Moopy rather than posting your mother's death certificate Moopy
Oh great who let Christian in
Whatever you do Christian, don't go into the kidnapping thread.
Michelle Visage in "this was my favourite podcast" in podcast with no guest stars and she's just talking about herself NONSHOCK
Also she suddenly SCREAMED when talking about a jump scare. BYE
Whoever was talking about her plugging her shopping website, I haven't got that far but I hope it's as coherent as her usual dogshit. On her SPF50 cardigan(?!): "It's too expensive but it's worth it"
I'm pretty sure she gave out her email address on that solo episode
Also when Ru mentioned his upcoming Hawaiian holiday and Michelle said "maybe I'll come with you!" *Ru swiftly moves on*
Still loving You Must Remember This but have to skip the ads - Karina's delivery is still fine to me for the main content but she annoys me when selling something
My Favorite Murder's ads also get skipped immediately (despite usually being as funny as the episodes) now they've started to include STEVEN
Yeah the ads on You Must Remember This are awful. It's like a network show with ads every ten minutes.
I don't really notice it. I 'm pretty sure it's only two ad breaks per episode and they're easily skippable.
Her impersonations are fairly cringe, but I haven't especially noticed them in this current season. The otherwise brilliant Charles Manson series did get really hard going when she started doing all the voices of the women at the trial...
The worst one for adverts of Podcasts I listen to is How Did This Get Made. Literally 5 minutes of Paul Scheer yelling about condoms, Squarespace (IT'S ALWAYS SQUARESPACE) and vegan cooking, approx 4x an episode. He could at least make it more bearable by getting June in to do some of them.
I hate when a podcast starts doing adverts and it's ALWAYS BLUE APRON
I don't mind one ad break in the middle and beginning and end especially for the long podcasts. YMRT is about 45 and there's the great courses plus, window treatments (seriously on a podcast??), blue apron or equivalent.
There's one on the Teen Creeps podcast about gaming and it's SO ANNOYING.
I quite like the way Paul does the adverts, to be honest. They could be shorter, yes. But at least he adds a bit of life to them.
I would probably pay them to get June to do them with minimal prior briefing though. What a star she is. She MADE the (relatively) recent Grease 2 episode with her straight-faced loondom despite the best efforts of slurring divorcee Anna Faris to bring it down.
It was me
It's about halfway through the episode, after the story of her visit to Hawaii and before Ru goes on about his trip to Vegas.
@VoR - The Strictly Ballroom episode was great! I'm definitely subscribing now and have to catch up on the other episodes.
Episode 18 is my favourite
Thanks! It's all going rather nicely so far. We finally have a theme tune and we're looking to move from self-hosting to paid in the next few weeks to open it up to a wider audience.
Interstellar episode is out on Friday, and we're doing Interview With The Vampire tonight. (Which technically has a sequel but who even remembers Queen of the Damned?)
I am still planning a Showgirls episode, but I want to get a decent guest for it. It's the kind of film that deserves the kind of enthusiasm Suomi brought to The Room episode.
Get monsta to do it.
It crossed my mind. I'd love to have more Moopers on in general. I tend to prefer having guests in the room, for the dynamic, the sound quality and because it's less of a faff to edit afterwards, but I might have to start being more flexible with that.
You got a shout out on new podcast So Bad It's Gay this week!
A Moopy podcast would kill for the one episode that we'd be arsed to do it, I hear there's a real gap in the market for sarcastically discussing popular culture.
Literally shut down after one episode for MALICIOUS COMMS
I don't know if anyone experiences this too much, but anyone have otherwise great podcasts ruined by unrelated banter?
A friend of mine recommended one about all things weird (lots of episodes about cults, i'm into it) and the bits where they actually discuss the topic are great, but the "humorous tangents" are occasionally unbearable and go on far too long.
I gave up on the Thinking Sideways podcast because of it
I've finally given up on the Simply Syndicated podcast network after more than 10 years. I haven't listened to one for a year now precisely because of their tangents. They expanded far too far, catered far too much for the US listeners and the best people stopped contributing.
I didn't find Thinking Sideways to be TOO BAD for it. The one I have just started ("Last Podcast On The Left"), they will go on tangents / off topic for minutes and minutes on end.
I think the main problems is when I don't find the interruptions or tangents funny. "How Did This Get Made?" is probably pretty bad for this too but I am familiar with the hosts and what is being said is usually almost always funny. Paul Scheer is pretty good at bringing things back in when they get out of control too.
Anybody been listening to Dirty John? It’s not a completely new story but it’s quite riveting and I’ve binged the 6 available episodes.
