This post is false, Pikachu can only evolve using the Thunderstone so unless you wasted a Thunderstone just to cancel its evolution you're LYING :geek:

Anyway guys Jasmine is kicking my fucking ass, where's the best place to level up? My team is horribly underleveled.

Zubat lv. 21 (going for Crobat)
    Tauros lv. 23
    Quilava lv. 21 (NEGLECTED)
    Hypno lv. 28
Ampharos lv. 32 (useless against Jasmine)
    Graveler lv. 25

Which was Jasmine, the electricity one? She was a RIGHT BITCH

TBH that Quilava was the key for me, that's good against Steel

Steelix is still weak to water type moves, just don't use it on the Magnemites.

I decided to restart the game with a different starter, and a different team.

Thats a bit extreme isn't it? You can get other pokemon with the same types as the starters easily!

Anyway Hen - train your Quilava!

When I restarted I had already completed the game and defeated the Elite Four. I just wanted a new challenge.

When I say I completed the game all I mean is that I completed the Kanto and Johto gym leaders and elite four members. :disco:

That Gengar really is something :o

Not bad, though I would beef up Ampharos, and look into getting something with an ice move to help with the dragons

Gengar is a bit of a cheat because I traded it over from Platinum.

If I'm honest, so were my Steelix and Lapras. I mean I had already caught them on Soulsilver, I just had them on Pearl too, at decent levels, so it was just a TIME SAVER

Diddy, the Kanto gyms will be a BREEZE with those Pokemon. Beware though as Lt. Surge is a bitch with Full Restore and Double Team.

Also, in between Lavender Town and Fuschia City, there is a trainer who boasts about his regal Pokemon. He has a Nidoking and a Slowking at lv 29, and a Magikarp at level 65, which I thought was moderately amusing. :D :bruised:

Yeah it didn't seem too bad, I finished off the Vermilion gym without much hassle last night.

I'm feeling a bit directionless at the moment, I'm not sure what sort of story this Kanto segment has, or if it's just gyms

There are some side quests, one involves the Generator at the Power Station which has been stolen by a Team Rocket member with poor english speaking skills. He hides in Misty's gym, then runs off to Nugget Bridge where you battle him with his offensively easy Golbat. Your reward is a TM for Shock Wave. :bruised:

The whole original point of it was just to revisit the old land? I suppose that aspect was lost in future games when it became apparent that it was the same old world each time.

I must say though, the way Kanto was re-recreated is wonderful. Going to Pallet Town and speaking to Red's mum is quite sad, she misses her son who hasnt called for a while.

Kanto is really a piece of piss isn't it? I'm just going around destroying the gyms, quite easy with my Typhlosion on its way to Lv 60

I kind of CHEATED to beat the Elite Four after about my twentieth attempt. I just had Gengar use Destiny Bond, then revive it and send it back out again. It always hits first so as long as you're knocked out (and with 50% health that's almost guaranteed) it takes the other Pokemon down with it. It was a cheap victory but those bloody dragons weren't budging.

The difficulty curve in Kanto is all over the place. The gyms are a piece of piss and then you get to Mount Silver and all of your Pokemon are about 20 levels off where they need to be even to be competetive.

I thought Blue was quite a tough gym leader. Red was easier than I remembered him to be, Pikachu and it's volt tackle was bloody annoying though

how the fuck do i go anywhere now? I've got 5 of the gym badges, but I can't go along the top to the west because it's all one-way ledges

If I try to go south from Fuschia (?) the path is all blocked so I can't get to the island. WHERE DO I GO?

Wake up the Snorlax using the Poké Flute on your radio card thing. When you find the station exit and walk up to Snorlax press B and he'll attack. He's level 50 so though be careful.

There's some oddly leveled Pokemon at the Lake of Rage. I've found a level 12 Gyarados which knowns Splash and Thrash and a level 40 Magikarp.

How are we all doing on this?

I've just arrived at Mt Silver now, I want to get the story bit out of the way I think so I can just try and get my whole collection. Annoyingly my Slowking HM whore doesn't have Waterfall so I might get another Slowpoke so whore up too, as there are some Rock climb bits there as well.

Oh, I can join in now! Well, sort of... I got started (picking the fire mole thing, as instructed) and was rather enjoying it. I somehow scraped by the boss in the gym where you have to go up in the lift... and then thought I'd have a go of Zelda Spirit Tracks which I'd bought at the same time. I got completely hooked by that and have played it non-stop ever since. I'm at the final temple now so have only got about an evening's play to go.

Then it's either back to the Pokémon or giving Mario & Luigi Partners In Time a spin. I did love Superstar Saga a ridiculous amount, so it's going to take quite some willpower to not give that a bash. Pokémon was digital crack whilst I was playing it, but now I've stepped away from it, the call isn't nearly as strong. Curious...

Anyway I am at the radio tower now, doing OK against Team Rocket idiots. I need more RANGE in my team though, 3 of my Pokémon are poison types and I have no grass or electric...
