Whilst maybe never needing to hear it again there’s no way I can’t (or anyone else should) omit Girls from a 20 song Cyndi list. She certainly knows her way round a good ballad. Not in order:

    Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
    Time After Time
    She Bop
    When You Were Mine
    All Through The Night
    True Colors
    What’s Going On?
    I Drove All Night
    Heading West
    That’s What I Think
    Sally’s Pigeons
    Someone Like Me
    Hot Gets A Little Cold
    Unhook The Stars
    Eventually
    Water’s Edge
    I Miss My Baby
    Into The Nightlife
    Echo
    Grab A Hold

Not in order (coz Ive had a drink), plus maybe I’ve subconsciously avoided the ‘big’ hits.

Nevertheless, here’s my 20 as I’m feeling it today.

    Everybody’s got an angel (BA)

    When you were mine

    Right track wrong train

    Heading for the moon

    Unabbreviated love

    I drove all night

    Hole in my heart

    Good enough

    Hot gets a little cold

    Sally’s pigeons

    Fearless

    Brimstone and fire

    Echo

    Grab a hold

    Lay me down

    Rain on me

    Boy blue

    Waters edge

    Witness

    Above the clouds

I probably have to give some of her later songs a listen again since whilst doing this top 10 I realise I have more of her early 80 discography than I expected would make my top 10.

    For now:
    1. Time After Time
    2. All Through the Night
    3. True Colors
    4. Into the Night Life
    5. I Drove All Night
    6. When You Were Mine
    7. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
    8. Change of Heart
    9. Walk On By
    10. Eventually

I am the first to recognize its cultural impact and that it's her signature (perhaps alongside "Time after Time"), but I genuinely never rated it more than a 7/10. It might make a dent in my Cyndi top 50.

Does she no longer have label support? It seems too long since her last non-country/blues/jazz/covers effort (eleven years to be exact).

It's such a shame as she sounded so invigorated and I really do think it was her best album since She's So Unusual. I've no idea about a label, but that's probably the question answered :zsazsa:

Doesn't she look wonderful? No idea who she is dressed up as (although it does remind me a deep, dark hole that goes all the way to China) and Bette's Mae West was a good choice for her.

But oh yes, the reason I'm here is that I totally forgot about Hope, which does sound rather lovely and promising for an eventual new pop album:
